UPDATED: Stolen vehicle has RCMP on the lookout

UPDATE: 2:42 P.M.

The vehicle has been located and suspects have been taken into custody.

 

ORIGINAL STORY:

Maple Creek RCMP are currently on the lookout for a stolen car that was last seen Northeast of Maple Creek.

The car is a 2012 orange Chevrolet Sonic with an Alberta license plate which reads CFX 9295.

It is believed that there are two male occupants in the vehicle.

Anyone with information is asked to contact 310-RCMP.

Prepare to bundle up as Coldest Night of the Year returns to Swift Current

It’s that time of year once again to dig the ski pants out of the closet as the registration opens for the Coldest Night of the Year (CNOY). 

The event serves as the largest annual fundraising event for the Swift Current Community Youth Initiative (SCCYI) and invites participants together for a 2km, or a 5 km walk in February, to highlight the struggles that homeless individuals endure daily, explained Nathan Wiebe, the executive director for the SCCYI.

If the change were to occur, the Chinook Regional Library would no longer operate with Swift Current Branch Library as its central unit.

One of the Clinical Managers at The Meadows in Swift Current, Nicole Kuyek, explained that the donation came from the family of a former resident.  

Handmade gifts aplenty at Museum Holiday Market

The Swift Current Museum was packed to the brim with local talent over the weekend as the Holiday Market took place. 

Education and Program Coordinator at the Museum, Corla Rokochy, said that the event garnered a very positive response from the community. 

“This market was very well attended by the public,” she stated. “A lot of people came right at the beginning because they were so excited to get there and see the vendors.” 

Collision east of Swift Current slows down Trans-Canada Highway

Motorists on the Trans-Canada Highway, east of Swift Current, will have to proceed with caution after a motor vehicle accident took place in the westbound Lane.

Located just west of Morse, vehicles are being advised to reduce their speed to 60 km/h and be prepared to stop.

Traffic has been reduced to one lane and police are present at the scene.
