Due to milder weather conditions this winter, the Government of Saskatchewan has announced that the winter weights season will be postponed on all relevant secondary highways for the time being.
Colder temperatures during Saskatchewan’s winter months assist in freezing and strengthening roads. This allows for added weight to be transported on the province’s highways without causing damage to the roads.

A spectacular show is set to make it’s way to Swift Current later this month as southwest artist, Amanda Hagel, celebrates the release of her album, ‘Be the Light.’
The country/inspirational artist, who has been nominated for multiple Country Music Association Awards, will be taking to the stage at the Lyric Theatre on November 27, for the album celebration concert.
Great Plains makes a great investment in the minds of tomorrow
Great Plains College has continued to invest in young minds by recently providing $114,000 in Entrance Scholarships to 99 students.
The fall scholarship receptions, which took place in October, included the distribution of $105,000 to 89 students located at the Swift Current campus while $9,000 was awarded to 10 students at the Kindersley and Warman campuses.

Saskatchewan software developer maps out SHA disruptions
A software developer from Saskatoon has taken matters into his own hands, developing a web map which highlights the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) facilities' service disruptions.
Joel Hill, who developed the software, elaborated on how the web map works.
New restaurant; Same familiar favourites
Residents will soon have the opportunity to welcome a new restaurant to Swift Current, as construction on the new Ricky’s building nears completion.
The new venue will be opening in place of Humpty’s Family Restaurant, which closed its doors for the final time last month.
Owner of the local franchise, Kosta Kanakis, said that although the change will be a significant adjustment, customers will still be able to order some of their favourites off the old Humpty’s menu.
Carnival and Chili Cookoff attracts attention
Games, bounce castles, and a ton of chili could be found over the weekend at Family Community Church for the second Carnival and Chili Cookoff in Swift Current.
This was the second year that the event was able to take place in the city, with the inaugural event taking place back in 2019.
