How a visit to Siloam Mission helped Peter see the world clearly again

For those living on the streets, survival often overshadows health concerns, and essential care can easily be overlooked.

That was the case for one individual, who recently shared how Siloam Mission’s health centre brought a life-changing realization to light—his need for glasses.

“When you’re living on the streets, you learn to get by with less. You don’t always realize just how much you’re missing,” Peter (name changed) explained, reflecting on how his eyesight had deteriorated without his knowledge. “Seeing an eye doctor was the last thing on my mind.”

Over 100,000 without power and 70 cm of snow: 5 years since the Thanksgiving Blizzard

Dubbed *the perfect storm* by meteorologists, the blizzard began on October 10, 2019, and continued to pummel the province over the next several days.

Winnipeg's Mayor at the time, Brian Bowman, aware of a big storm that was about to hit Winnipeg, addressed the public near noon on Oct. 10.
