Harry Hildebrand, 87, of Winkler passed away Monday, August 4th at Salem Home, Winkler. He is survived by 1 son, 1 daughter and their families. He was predeceased by his wife Esther.
A celebration of life will be held Friday, August 8th, 2:30pm at Winkler Bergthaler Mennonite Church, with burial at Winkler Cemetery.
Viewing will be tomorrow, 1-6:30pm at Wiebe Funeral Home Winkler.

Phyllis Senkiw, 88, of Steinbach passed away Monday, August 4th at Bethesda Regional Health Centre, Steinbach. She was survived by her daughter and family. She was predeceased by her husband Boris.
The memorial service for Phyllis Senkiw will be held Tuesday, August 12th, 1pm at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, with ash interment at a later date.
Donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.

A global adventure: CHVN cruises around the world at Folklorama
Folklorama started on Sunday, and it feels like the CHVN Summer Cruiser has travelled the world.
On Sunday, the Cruiser began its journey in Ukraine by visiting the Spirit of Ukraine Pavilion at Soul Sanctuary, located at 2050 Chevrier Boulevard.
After that, the Cruiser zoomed off to the Centro Caboto Centre for the Italian Pavilion at 1055 Wilkes Avenue. We ended the night off at the Pembina Curling Club, 1341 Pembina Highway, for the Argentina-Tango Pavilion.

Man who tried to kill pastor during live-streamed service faces up to 60 years
A man who attempted to kill a pastor during a live-streamed church service in Pennsylvania is facing a hefty sentence.
The 27-year-old man, who has also been charged with third-degree murder for shooting and killing his cousin, could face up to 60 years in prison.
In May 2024, Pastor Glenn Germany was speaking at Jesus' Dwelling Place Church in North Braddock when the 27-year-old suspect approached the stage, pulled out a gun, and attempted to take the life of the pastor.
Early morning blaze displaces residents in West End
An early morning fire in the city's West End kept crews busy Wednesday morning.
Just before 3:30 a.m., the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service received a call about a fire in a single-storey home in the 400 block of Beverley Street. There were also reports that residents may be trapped in the house.
Smoke was coming from the home when crews arrived, and firefighters quickly launched an interior fire attack.
Crews searched the home, but found no occupants. It was later discovered that everyone made it out safely before firefighters arrived at the scene.

Seph Schlueter mourns loss of baby, clings to hope on ‘This Side of Heaven’
Christian singer Seph Schlueter recently revealed his story of heartbreak after he and his wife lost their baby.
"One year ago today was the worst day of my life," says Schlueter on a video on social media. "My wife and I went in for our 20-week ultrasound and found out our little girl didn't have a heartbeat anymore."
Schlueter posted the video on Aug. 5 and talks about how hard it was for him.
Mennonite Heritage Village shares 500 years of people 'On Fire for Christ'
A powerful and eye-opening new exhibit is making its way to the Mennonite Heritage Village (MHV) in Steinbach.
“On Fire for Christ", is a travelling exhibit titled 500 Years of Discipleship from the Anabaptists to Us. The display will be set up in the MHV auditorium from August 6 to September 6.
Prime Minister Mark Carney announces support measures for softwood lumber industry
The federal government is setting up a safety net of loans, product-development grants and market diversification plans for Canada’s softwood lumber industry in an effort to shield it from the worst of American duties and fees.
Prime Minister Mark Carney announced the plan Tuesday, promising $700 million in loan guarantees to address what he called "immediate pressures" and $500 million for long-term supports to help companies diversify export markets and develop their products.
Carney also promised that future projects will "prioritize" Canadian lumber.
