Stubborn core inflation in June likely cements calls for Bank of Canada rate hold

Underlying inflation remained stubbornly hot in June, leading financial markets and many economists to firm up calls for a third straight interest rate hold from the Bank of Canada later this month.

Statistics Canada said Tuesday that the annual pace of inflation accelerated to 1.9 per cent in June, up from 1.7 per cent in May and largely in line with economists’ expectations.

Prices didn't ease much at the gas pumps last month, the agency said, and higher prices on motor vehicles and other durable goods also drove inflation higher.

Verse of the day: July 16

Colossians 2:9-10

"For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form, and in Christ you have been brought to fullness. He is the head over every power and authority."

Understanding and Obedience

Isaiah 50:5

Our greatest struggle is not in the realm of understanding the will of God; it's in the realm of obeying the God whose will it is.

To be painfully honest, when you and I look back at our lives, we do not find ourselves puzzled and mystified about God's will nearly as much as we find ourselves stubborn and resistant to the One directing our steps.

Our problem isn't that we don't know; our problem is that we do know but aren't willing to follow through.

That's the basic struggle of the Christian life.

Elenee’s latest music project reflects on God’s faithfulness through pain

A Canadian artist recently put her own spin on a popular worship song along with her own tune.

Elenee released a cover version of "Goodness of God" as well as her own song, "Sunshine and Rainbows."

She said choosing to do "Goodness of God" was an easy decision. "When you have nothing else to sing about, you can't help but sing about how God has been so good, even in some of the most tragic and grief-stricken situations in my life and in other people's lives. "Goodness of God" just seems to be this anthem of gratitude."
