Jordan River, Jesus' baptism site, is today barely a trickle

Kristen Burckhartt felt overwhelmed. She needed time to reflect, to let it sink in that she had just briefly soaked her feet in the water where Jesus is said to have been baptized, in the Jordan River.

“It’s very profound,” said the 53-year-old visitor from Indiana. “I have not ever walked where Jesus walked, for one thing.”

After abuse claim against Quebec cardinal, 3 more women file complaint against church

After Quebec Cardinal Marc Ouellet was accused by a woman of sexual assault in a class-action lawsuit introduced this week, more women have come forward with similar allegations against members of the province's Catholic Church.

At least three women filed formal sexual assault complaints against the archdiocese of Montreal since the allegations against Ouellet were made public, Christine Kirouack, ombudswoman for the city's archdiocese, said in an interview Wednesday.

Ukrainian Baptists rebuild leadership as war closed hundreds of churches

According to Ukrainian Baptist Theological Seminary (UBTS) President and pastor of Journey Church in Lviv, Yaroslav Pyzh, “since the war started, six months already, we lost about 400 Baptist churches”.

The Baptist volunteers help internally displaced people to prepare their houses for the winter by renewing roofs, windows and doors.

However, “the real challenge is similar to Nehemiah’s challenge. It’s not only rebuilding the walls of Jerusalem. It’s rebuilding the nation of Israel, of worshiping God. … That’s the same thing here in Ukraine”, Pyzh told Baptist Press.
