WATCH: Kidnapped missionaries in Haiti escaped and used the stars to find freedom

Details have emerged on how missionaries being held captive in Haiti made a daring nighttime escape and are now home in time for Christmas.

There were 12 missionaries remaining in captivity after 17 were kidnapped after visiting an orphanage. Five of the missionaries had already been released, when the remaining ones decided to make a daring escape.

MercyMe receives 7th gold certification status

MercyMe has done it again, with a 7th RIAA gold-certified album under their belts. 

Bart Millard and Mike Scheuchzer were recently presented commemorative plaques for hitting gold status for their 2017 album Lifer by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). They have previously received RIAA Gold Certification on six other albums and one Triple Platinum Certification.

Three singles from Lifer hit No. 1 on Billboard National Christian Audience, including 'Even If,' 'Grace Got You,' and 'Best News Ever.'

Grunthal church tries vaxxed-only Sunday service

During a time when many congregations in southern Manitoba are trying to be creative in making sure their members stay connected, still healthy and following the public health orders, Elim Mennonite in Grunthal has looked at their numbers and have decided to offer their Sunday morning service to fully vaccinated people only.

Norm Voth, Transitional Interim Pastor says, opening their doors to only 25 attendees on Sunday mornings left many of their members without personal contact.

Samaritans Purse and churches helping with aftermath of B.C. flooding

Church folks are getting their hands dirty in B.C. as they are physically helping people clear out their homes after the intense flooding last month.

Frank King is the News Media Relations Manager with Samaritans Purse Canada. 

"Even as Christmas comes, Samaritans Purse has been crazy busy in British Columbia from the disastrous flooding in Abbotsford and also further north in the Merritt region," says King. "We're working through churches in those areas with volunteers."
