WATCH: Tennessee pastor tackles gunman during worship gathering

A pastor is being hailed as a hero after he tackled a man who got up on a church's stage and began waving and pointing a gun on Sunday.

The incident took place at Nashville Light Mission Pentecostal Church in central Tennessee, Metro Nashville Police said in a statement according to the Associated Press. A 26-year-old man pulled a gun while the pastor was praying with several people.

“He wanted to kill, that’s what first came to my mind,” Pastor Ezekiel Ndikumana tells news station WKRN.

Ministers call for end to violence after pastor killed outside California church

Faith leaders in an L.A. neighbourhood are calling for an end to street violence after a pastor was shot and killed while walking to his car after a Bible study.

ABC7 reports that 65-year-old pastor Reginald Moore was killed near the end of October. He had served at God of Christ Church in Compton for over 20 years.

Two Christians killed, dozens abducted in attack on church in Nigeria

Two Christians were killed in an attack on a Baptist church service in southern Kaduna state, Nigeria on Sunday, Oct. 31, sources say.

The lethal attack on Baptist worshippers in Kakau Daji village, Chikun County, also resulted in the kidnapping of dozens of Christians from the Sunday service, church leaders said.

“Two Christians were killed in the church during the morning worship service, and many others were taken away at gunpoint by the armed Fulani herdsmen,” Ishaya Jangado, president of the Kaduna Baptist Convention, said in a text message to Morning Star News.

How a children's book is helping spread the word of God

Brad Klassen and his wife Jen began their adventure by volunteering in the children's ministry at their church. Little did they know where saying yes to that would take them. 

Brad and Jen have created a new book series called The Unforgettable Adventures of Junior Bear. Brad is also the children's pastor at Crossview Church in Steinbach, Manitoba.

A band member in Sidewalk Prophets just received the best birthday gifts. 

"After 12 years of trying to get pregnant, my wife Carie and I are expecting our first baby!" says Ben McDonald on Facebook. He plays guitar in the Christian band Sidewalk Prophets, originally co-founding it with lead singer David Frey. 

There are many couples who unfortunately deal with infertility issues, and McDonald addresses them with empathy having walked the road himself. 

Amy Grant only woman inducted to hall of fame this year

Amy Grant is being inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame. 

The winner of six Grammy awards, Grant was given the honour this past Monday at an in-person event. 

The classes of 2020 and 2021 were officially honoured as they were unable to do an in-person event last year due to the pandemic. The Hall of Fame Gala took place at the Music City Centre in Nashville.

Christian artist Tom Reed took to Twitter to voice his displeasure, saying "I'm not sure which is worse: that Hillsong and Chris Tomlin think that this is ok in the context of worship; or that there's actually a demand for it?"

Calgary pastor and brother appealing sanctions for violating COVID-19 rules

A Calgary pastor and his brother are appealing stiff fines and other sanctions imposed after they were convicted of contempt for violating Alberta's COVID-19 rules.

Pastor Artur Pawlowski and his brother Dawid Pawlowski say sanctions imposed last month by Justice Adam Germain are unreasonable, excessive and violate their Charter rights.
