Uganda-based ministry works with Emmaus church youth to fund Bible purchase

Nixon and Chasity Katabira operate Love All Ministries Uganda (LAM-Uganda), a Christian non-denominational youth empowerment ministry. 

Operating under the umbrella of Winkler-based Sixteen13 Ministry, the Katabiras serve over fifty young people, many coming from broken homes. Their goal is to create a family where hope is restored and skills are attained.

CAIN family welcoming 'new band member'

Alongside their favourite things, the band CAIN is making a big announcement on social media. 

"Well I guess we better make room on the bus for our new band member!" was the headline post for CAIN on September 1. 

The announcement is about Logan Cain, one of the members of the Christian band. Logan and his wife Emily are thrilled to announce they're expecting their first child. 

Two months later, 57 kidnapped students of Bethel Baptist High School freed

A large group of the 120 students of the Bethel Baptist High School kidnapped on 5 July in the Kaduna State of Nigeria have been able to return home. After 28 pupils could return to the educational centre on July 27, local media now report that another 57 students have been freed between August 22-28.

This new move has been confirmed by the spokesman of the Police of Kaduna, Muhammad Jalige, according to Premium Times Nigeria. No official explanation has been given about the cause of the freeing, but the local press speaks of possible ransom payments by some families.

Tim Tebow, Samaritan's Purse, asking for prayers for Afghanistan

Samaritan's Purse says they are rallying to protect Afghans who have fled their country, delivering much-needed supplies.

As the situation in Afghanistan continues to devastate residents, Samaritan's Purse is currently on the ground (and in the air) aiding those who have evacuated. This week, Tim Tebow joined them.

"We have been heartbroken over the crisis in Afghanistan, the loss of our brave servicemen and women, and the loss of so many other precious lives. With so much suffering around the world, we ask that you join us in prayer," Tebow tweets.

'Church is essential': Grace Community Church wins $800,000 settlement

The state of California and Los Angeles are settling a lawsuit with a church after the lead pastor refused to follow the health orders.

A year ago in Los Angeles, a superior court judge gave Grace Community Church an injunction: they could not hold in-person worship services. The ban on the megachurch's gatherings was based on how services were conducted considering COVID-19, particularly physical distancing and wearing masks.

Now, the state of California and Los Angeles have agreed to pay John MacArthur's church $800,000 to settle the lawsuit that followed.

The Color giving fans an inside look with new tour

While it is another online music tour, The Color is hoping to give fans a more intimate, story-telling experience with their latest event. 

"The Impact of Music Tour is really about the impact that music has had on our lives. So we're going to be taking five weeks to share these shows. Each one features a different person," says Jordan Janzen, the frontman of the Manitoba band. 

Their first episode went live on the band's YouTube page on Tuesday, August 31. Each episode is free to the public. 

Francesca Battistelli sharing big personal and musical news

Francesca Battistelli recently shared how her family and musical career will be expanding simultaneously.

"We’re having a BABY! Goodwin babe #6 is due in February, and we are so honored and thrilled that God would bless us with another precious baby!" Battistelli posted to Instagram on August 28. 

Battistelli's husband, Matt Goodwin, and she have five children. The family lives in Tennessee where the singer recently decided to homeschool their three school-aged children. 

Jordan St. Cyr keeping busy with new music release, tour this fall

A Manitoban musician says his latest venture feels like a "travelling Bible camp for adults" as he tours the United States with other Christian artists.

Jordan St. Cyr has had a busy summer and is gearing up for an equally busy fall.

"I think I have about just under 60 shows until Christmas, which is amazing, and I've got this new song out, 'Weary Traveller" that's coming out September 10 next month," St. Cyr says.

A woman who has faced the pain of battling mental health struggles and watched her own daughter go through her own struggles is now taking that experience to help other women.

Helen Guenther has faced her own struggles with anxiety and depression. But when her daughter was diagnosed with an eating disorder, Guenther says it was as if her "whole world fell apart."
