Teachers and staff at a Winnipeg school that specializes in teaching newcomers and refugees are going without a paycheque while the school struggles to complete a new science lab in order to meet provincial requirements.
What was initially thought to be a less-pricey project is costing Freedom International School a lot more than they thought.

Residents along parts of the Gulf of Mexico coast are preparing for what has been called a potentially "life-altering" hurricane. Meteorologists now say Hurricane Ida is expected to hit land with winds as strong as 155 mph (250 km/h).
The storm is currently at a Category 4, with winds around 150 mph and is expected to make landfall Sunday afternoon.
8 dead in flash flood at Ethiopian seminary
Members of an Ethiopian seminary are in mourning after a flash flood killed eight people, including three children.
Mekane Yesus Seminary is located in the city of Addis Ababa, and was hit by heavy rains the afternoon of August 17. A post made that day to the school's Facebook page said that four people had died. Since that time another four deaths have been confirmed.
The school has been asking for prayers and receiving letters of support and condolences from Christian organizations around the world.

Montreal artists release first English worship song
A husband and wife duo says they are using music to share the Bible with others.
Camille & Gabriel, a Montreal group, met in September of 2017. As their love grew, so did their music.
"From our first exchange it was undeniable: we had found a soulmate. Of all the things that united us, the love of music was one of the greatest," Gabriel says.

PRAY: Chinese house church raided again, more leaders taken to jail
Two leaders from a group of house churches that have faced constant pressure from the Chinese government are in jail after their gathering was raided by officials on the weekend.
Early Rain Covenant Church was raided on August 22 while a small group was meeting in the Chenghua District. In a video posted to a Facebook group dedicated to praying for the church, several officials can be seen in the doorway of the gathering space, talking with and then grabbing at leaders.
