Oil companies looking at decreased activity relative to current prices

The oil industry in the province is seeing some good times, even if that's not always reflected.

Warren Walldegger, the chairman of the Saskatchewan Headquartered Oil Producers, says the current situation is going well.

"I would say the industry is doing very well with US exchange, Canadian exchange, or seeing an uptick in our exported products. So prices are very good and netbacks coming out of the field are very good."

Eavestrough cleaning an important task when it comes to winter preparations

With fall well on its way leaves are falling and are likely blocking up people's eavestroughs.

That'll need to be sorted soon, as winter approaches which would freeze those leaves into place.

While that wouldn't be much of a problem during the winter, any debris caught in those eavestroughs during the spring melt could spell trouble for your home.

To that end, Tyler McMurchy, the Manager of Media Relations for SGI, details what could happen if that's not properly cleaned.

FCAA warns Saskatchewan residents of ongoing rental scams

The Financial and Consumer Affairs Authority of Saskatchewan is warning people of rental scams that have been popping up around the province.

In most rental scams, fraudsters have been posing as landlords by targeting prospective renters through fake listings.

The landlord typically doesn't own the property, with photos downloaded from advertisements on legitimate real estate sites.

The fraudster will then ask the renter to sign a fake lease agreement and send payment for the first month of rent and a securtiy deposit.

Heat pumps an ill-suited solution thanks to Saskatchewan climate

Colder weather is creeping in with winter just a couple of months away and residents wondering how they can keep their homes heated.

Johnson Plumbing and Heating Inventory Controller Jim Niebergall explains.

Drop in temperature could stick around as fall progresses

This week the warm temperatures which had softly started the fall are leaving.

Whether that sticks around is dependent on what you look at, explains Environment Canada Meteorologist Terri Lang.

"Well, depends on which weather model you want to look at. Some models show a bit of a recovery later at the end of next week, but some of the other models kind of keep us in the cooler sort of stormier pattern with some weather systems moving through with more wind and more rain and that type of thing."
