An Estevan doctor is facing practice restrictions as the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan (CPSS) is opening an investigation.

Dr. Alexander Arthur has currently restricted their practice as CPSS received two complaints from female patients which alleged improper conduct by the doctor.

As such, Dr. Arthur has agreed to have a practice monitor present for any professional encounter with female patients pending the outcome of the investigations.

Brian Salte, Associate Registrar with the CPSS, stated in a release, "as the investigations are not completed, there has been no decision on what, if any, action will be taken by the College in relation to those complaints."

CPSS will be maintaining the practice restriction until the investigations are complete.

Salte mentioned that CPSS may use a number of possible actions following the investigation.

These range from, according to Salte, "taking no further action, resolving the concerns about Dr. Arthur’s conduct through an alternative dispute resolution mechanism, charging him with unprofessional conduct, etc."
