Remax of Swift Current is doing its part to ensure all children can enjoy the Halloween tradition of trick or treating this year. 

Owner and Broker, Lanette Thoreson says the program was started by their national office last year to bring awareness regarding accessibility for children with mobility issues. 

Thoreson says they hope that the program and awareness continue to grow.

Onion Lake RCMP is requesting the public's assistance in locating 30-year-old Ryan Harper from the Onion Lake Cree Nation, SK wanted on a Canada-wide warrant. 

The Onion Lake RCMP issued Harper's arrest warrant due to his involvement in an armed robbery with a firearm on October 10, 2022. There is also an outstanding Canada-wide warrant for his arrest. 

Harper is described as 5'6", weighing approximately 154lbs with brown hair and brown eyes. 

In honor of small business week, Swift Current Online has chosen to focus on a couple of local treasures beginning with everyone's favorite local toy store. 

Back in 2009, Garry Koebel and his wife began looking at business ideas after being in the financial services industry for the past 20 years. Koebel says he had the entrepreneurial bug after growing up with his family who had a small business while he was growing up. 

A Filipino feast took place this past weekend as part of a dinner fundrasier to help a local girl suffering from DiGeorge Syndrome. 

2-year-old Amari Gayatenia was diagnosed with the immune-compromised condition and the local community came together to help raise funds to help cover her medical costs. Amari's condition requires frequent Tertiary Care Centre treatment resulting in many hospital visits both in and out of the province.

The rails will be bright again this holiday season with the return of the CP Holiday Train. 

Salem Woodrow, spokesperson for Canadian Pacific provides details on this year's holiday program. 

"Canadian Pacific is incredibly excited and proud to be bringing back the CP Holiday Train to more than 160 communities in Canada and the United States for the 24th year to raise money, food, and awareness for local food banks and hunger issues."

The time of year to ring those phones for Telemiracle 47 is quickly approaching and performers for the weekend-long cast are being sought. 

Chair of Telemiracle 47, Scott Lamb provides details on the upcoming auditions. 

"Regina is next weekend and the audition deadline for that is October 19th," he said. "After COVID we realized that people want to actually do their own videos so we are doing a video submission deadline of October 25th. So you can take a video of yourself performing and submit it and you may have a chance of being on the show."

Local youth of all ages took to the Lyric Theatre stage last night to perform in the first Youth Talent Night of the season. 

The evening was hosted by local music teacher Glenna Switzer who actively participated in the night where her students shined. 

Switzer provides some history on the origin of the Youth Talent Night. 

"We started Youth Talent Night just like the Open Stage and it started about maybe six or eight years ago now," she said. "It has been quite a while and a very rewarding experience that's for sure."

A 15-year-old female from Lethbridge has been charged and arrested by Lethbridge Police Service and charged with uttering threats after an incident earlier this week in Maple Creek. 

The incident began around 7:25 am on October 4th when Maple Creek RCMP began investigating a social media post that contained threatening information. The initial investigation indicated that there was a possibility that it was posted in the Maple Creek area. 

It will be a new experience for some local newcomers when they take to the ice with the Swift Current Broncos next week.

We have a skate with the Broncos happening next Wednesday. This is an opportunity for anyone whether they have skated before or not to come and meet the Bronco players, try out skating on the ice, and skate with the team.

It was a holiday meal with all the trimmings last night at the Southwest Newcomer Welcome Center's thanksgiving dinner. 

The Executive Director of the Welcome Center Icasiana de Gala provides details on the annual cultural event. 

This is our thanksgiving dinner, we do this annually I believe since 2013. So this is our 9th year. We started with one turkey and now we have eleven turkeys I think and ham and a lot of additional things there. We're so glad that were able to do this again.
