Legends Car Club divvies up additional year-end funds

It's being described as a welcome gift that will help support programming at Altona's newest community resource organization. 

Members of the Legends Car Club board have donated $1,000 to The Community Exchange. The proceeds generated through the car club's 2022 annual Charity Drag Races.

The Community Exchange is a new initiative in Altona that serves as a hub to connect people to a network of community events and services to support living and thriving in Altona and surrounding areas. 

Chris Sumner speaks with Weathercasters of tomorrow at Elm Creek School

It’s Wednesday, November 30th and yesterday afternoon and CFAM Radio 950 Morning Show co-Host, and CMOS Accredited Weathercaster Chris Sumner, was at Elm Creek School talking to the Weathercasters of tomorrow! He was invited to speak with Mrs. Spencer’s classroom about all things weather, and did they ever do that. What’s the difference between weather and climate? How do thunderstorms form and why can it be hot in Elm Creek, but really cold in Thompson? Those were just some of the questions he was asked.

Construction proposals now being accepted for new Morden K-8 school


A new K to 8 school and childcare centre in Morden took another big step forward yesterday with Western School Division announcing proposals for construction are now being accepted by M-C-M Architects.

Proposals will be accepted until early January. 

The Division also announced costing out the possibility of a locally funded soccer field and full-sized running track on the new school site.

RCMP searching for male suspect in Lowe Farm, Steinbach bank incidents

Authorities in Manitoba are looking for the public's help in identifying a suspect believed to be behind a pair of bank incidents this month.
    
RCMP report, last Monday afternoon a man walked into the Access Credit Union in Lowe Farm, handed the teller a note demanding money and left with an undisclosed amount of cash, heading west in a light-coloured 2004 to 2008 4-door sedan.
    

Semi rear ends semi on Highway 14 east of Winkler

Traffic was delayed for a couple of hours this morning east of Winkler on Highway 14 following a collision involving two semis.

According to Winkler Fire Chief Richard Paetzold, both semis were travelling west when one of the semis rear-ended the other. The collision happened across from Circle K Drive.

Paetzold said the rigs sustained some damage, and some fluids were leaking from the semi that rear-ended the other. He added both semis were pulling trailers, but were hauling non-hazardous loads. 

Carman RCMP seeking help in possible case of arson

Carman RCMP is asking for help in identifying suspects in a possible case of arson dating back to October.
    
On October 11, members of the Carman detachment responded to a structure fire on Road 1 West in the RM of Rhineland, where a decommissioned bridge, estimated in value at $4 million was destroyed.     
    
The investigation determined the cause of the fire to be undetermined. 
    

Alert Ready test scheduled for 1:55 p.m. Wednesday afternoon

Alert Ready, the country's national public alerting system, is scheduled to be tested at 1:55 p.m. on Wednesday.

An emergency alert test message will go out on multiple communication channels, including CFAM 950, Country 88.9 and The Eagle 93-5, at 1:55 p.m. The test alert will also be sent out on tv and compatible wireless devices. However, not all Manitobans will receive the test alert on their mobile devices. This may occur for a variety of reasons including device compatibility, connection to an LTE network, cell tower coverage, and device software and settings.

Police end pursuit for safety reasons, issue warrant for driver

Shortly before midnight on November 8th, Winkler Police were notified by the RCMP and Altona Police about an attempted theft of a motor vehicle near Rosenfeld.  

With a vehicle description in hand, officers located the suspect vehicle parked at a motel in Winkler shortly after midnight. Police say the driver of the vehicle is known to officers as being a suspended driver.  

Remembrance Day in the Pembina Valley

Canadians once again paused this November 11th to recognize and honour the contributions of men and women who have paid the ultimate price in service to their country and the world.  

Remembrance Day ceremonies were held in many communities throughout the region.
