Leona Nickel nee Hildebrand, 80, of Altona formerly of Rosenfeld, passed away Friday, June 20th at her residence. She is survived by 2 sons, 1 brother, and their families. She was predeceased by her husband Grant. 
A private funeral service for Leona Nickel nee Hildebrand will be held with burial at Weidenfeld Cemetery.

George Schapansky, age 89 years, of Altona formerly of Plum Coulee, MB passed away on Sunday, June 22, 2025 at the Boundary Trails Health Centre.
He is survived by his wife Mary (nee Dueck), their children Theresa (Garry) Miller, Gerald Schapansky, and Debra (Brian) Hurd, as well as 4 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, 3 sisters and 3 brothers. He was predeceased by his parents, 4 sisters and 2 brothers.
A private funeral service will be held with ash interment at the Plum Coulee Cemetery.

Farmers will be out evaluating crops following the weekend weather

Most areas of the prairies received some rainfall over the weekend. 

Environment Canada issued a number of special weather statements warning about significant rainfall and the potential for flooding in Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Alberta.

Many areas saw torrential rain and even tornadoes that caused significant damage, along with cooler temperatures and a risk of frost in some areas in Alberta and Saskatchewan.
