Parole board 'working' to have Bernardo victims' families attend hearing in-person

The Parole Board of Canada says it is now working to allow victims’ families to attend Paul Bernardo's parole hearing and deliver their victim impact statements in person.

A lawyer representing the families of two teenage girls murdered by notorious killer and serial rapist Paul Bernardo said they had been denied the right to deliver their statements in person at Bernardo's upcoming parole hearing. The issue was raised by Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre during question period in the House of Commons Wednesday.

Steinbach RCMP officers will be first in Manitoba to wear body cameras

RCMP officers in Steinbach will be the first in our province to begin using body-worn cameras. And that practice will begin this coming Friday.

Earlier today, Manitoba RCMP announced that between November 22, 2024, and April 2025, more than 490 officers in 44 Manitoba detachments will be equipped with the cameras. This will include detachments that provide policing services to Ebb and Flow First Nation, Peguis First Nation, Sioux Valley Dakota Nation, Chemawawin Cree Nation, O-Pipon-Na-Piwin Cree Nation as well as a number of other First Nation communities.
