Today is the first day of the 2025 season for Quarry Oaks Golf Course and between every day golfers, big tournaments and special events, it's looking like another busy year at the course.
Mike Pittman, Business Development, Events and Marketing Manager, says things are looking quite good heading into the season. "We're always excited this time of year," he says with a smile. "We see a bunch of the members coming back, everyone is eager to hit the course, it's always happy times for us here."

Canaryseed brokers and traders think acres this year will be larger than Statistics Canada is indicating.
“Definitely acres are going up, not down,” said David Nobbs, a trader with Bornhorst Seeds.
Statistics Canada is forecasting 232,180 acres of the crop, a 20 per cent decrease from last year.
“I don’t even know why they’re involved in this crop. The numbers that come out are just always wrong,” said Nobbs.

Steinbach man caught going 123 km/h in a 50 km/h zone
A Steinbach man is facing consequences after going 123 km/h in a 50 km/h zone.
Steinbach RCMP say the 18-year-old driver was stopped on March 27 around 2 a.m. by officers who were conducting proactive speed reinforcement.
The driver was given a $1006 ticket, a license review by Manitoba Public Insurance, and a ticket for driving without a supervised driver.
Steinbach RCMP look to identify fuel theft suspects
Steinbach RCMP are asking help locating two fuel theft suspects.
On March 17 just before 10 a.m., officers say the pair topped off at the Co-op on Reimer Avenue and Brandt Street in Steinbach with about $20 worth of fuel.
They took off without paying.
Police describe the vehicle they filled as a blue Nissan SUV without license plates.
Officers are requesting help identifying the pair, and ask anyone with information to contact them, or Crime Stoppers.
Kleefeld runner achieves personal best time in Boston Marathon
A runner from Kleefeld nearly missed the start of the race before pulling off his quickest marathon time ever in Boston Monday.
Jeff English was one of nearly 29,000 runners to compete in the Boston Marathon on Patriots' Day, in what he says were ideal weather conditions. He qualified after completing the Fargo Marathon in a time of 2:54:16 last May. For English, this was his first time running the historic Boston Marathon.
"(I) toyed around with it for the last couple of years and decided to commit," says English.

A councillor for the RM of Ste. Anne is organizing a cycling fundraiser for the Dawson Trail Museum.

Wildcats' Kihn highlights friendships and growth
The Eastman Wildcats programs are ready for another year and President Russ Kihn is looking forward to a big year for all the teams.
"Oh man, the weather gets you excited, right?" Kihn says ahead of his 8th season as a coach for a Wildcats team. "It's starting to get really nice here, a little earlier than in years past. The sun is out, the grass is out, it's starting to get really exciting."
