Manitoba declares provincial state of emergency, again, due to wildfires
The Manitoba government has declared a provincial state of emergency once again, as wildfires continue to devastate parts of northern Manitoba.
Premier Wab Kinew announced the decision Thursday afternoon, saying the state of emergency officially took effect at 12:01 p.m.
"The primary reason that we have called this latest state of emergency is because we need access to more facilities to be able to shelter this large number of Manitobans who are being forced to flee their homes due to wildfires," he explains.

Manitoba Premier Wab Kinew again declared a provincewide state of emergency Thursday, as renewed wildfires forced thousands out of their homes, some for the second time in weeks.
Kinew said the order, the second since late May, is critical to rally resources.
"We're going to be asking Manitobans to be helping out in a number of ways," Kinew told a news conference.
"We want to underscore just how serious this wildfire season is."

St. Germain will hit the stage alongside long-time friends and collaborators, the country-rock group Petric, after headliner Nate Smith pulled out due to vocal issues. Petric was added to the bill to help fill the gap, and they brought St. Germain with them.
