Sask Selects camps hitting the road this spring

Instead of athletes having to drive a long distance, the Sask Selects Football Program is bringing their camps to the players for 2025.

Throughout May, June, and July, the Sask Selects will hold camps in 11 locations: Saskatoon, Regina, Medicine Hat, Weyburn, Estevan, Lloydminster, Meadow Lake, Moosomin, Melville, Outlook, and Swift Current.

"Everybody kind of overlooks those smaller communities, so we're going to make a concerted effort to go and find those diamonds in the rough," said Coach Zeljko of the Sask Selects.

Nature events with Wild About Moose Jaw this weekend, including black bears, Crocus walk

Wild About Moose Jaw and the Moose Jaw Nature Society have events coming up this weekend and on April 26, including a presentation on co-existing with black bears and moose, an annual Crocus Walk out at Buffalo Pound, and a pollinator garden seed exchange at the Moose Jaw Public Library (MJPL). 

“We don’t have the opportunity to see large creatures in and around Moose Jaw,” said Rich Pickering, president of the Moose Jaw Nature Society and a member of Wild About Moose Jaw. 

Opportunities and growth ahead as Manitoba Pork celebrates 60 years

Manitoba Pork celebrated its 60th anniversary during its annual meeting and industry banquet Thursday in Winnipeg. Producers, processors and various stakeholders gathered at the Fairmont for the day full of meetings which was capped by an evening gala. There are currently 188 registered producers in the province, representing 608 farms and 22,000 full-time equivalent jobs. 

Poilievre pledges to use the notwithstanding clause, Carney talks defence procurement

Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre is promising that a government led by him would use the notwithstanding clause to override Charter rights to implement his tough-on-crime agenda — something no prime minister has ever done.

Poilievre was campaigning in Montreal on Monday, where he announced he would pass a law to allow judges to impose consecutive life sentences in cases of multiple murders. The Supreme Court of Canada ruled in 2022 that imposing consecutive life sentences violates an offender's Charter rights.

Airdrie RCMP have annouced that Elizabeth Thuy Nguyen has been found safe.

Airdrie RCMP is requesting public assistance in locating 32-year-old Elizabeth Thuy Nguyen.

She was last seen on April 11 in Airdrie. Police believe should could be in the Regina area and there is concern for her well-being.

Nguyen is described as medium build, five-foot-five, 110 pounds, black hair and brown eyes.
