Sports Round-Up: Thursday, September 19

The Moose Jaw Warriors are set to start the Western Hockey League regular season tomorrow night in Brandon against the Wheat Kings. The Voice of the Warriors James Gallo will have all the action, starting with the pre-game show at 5:40 and play-by-play to follow at 6 o'clock.

The Warriors return to Moose Jaw for their home opener Saturday against the Prince Albert Raiders. The night will see the banner raising for the Warriors’ WHL championship win last season, with the first 1500 fans getting a replica banner. 

Sports Round-Up: Wednesday, September 18

The Moose Jaw Warriors making some roster moves in preparation for the regular season which starts this weekend.

The Warriors re-assigned 16-year-old forwards Carson Deichert and Tyson Schamehorn to their respective U18 clubs.
Deichert, a third round pick in the 2023 WHL Prospects Draft, will join the Moose Jaw U18 AAA Warriors.

The Warriors now have 13 forwards, eight defencemen and three goaltenders on the roster, including four players away at NHL training camps.

Sports Round-Up: Tuesday, September 17

Ahead of their regular reason starting this weekend, the Moose Jaw Warriors have released some special attractions for local hockey fans.

One of this year’s home game highlights is Championship Tuesdays, with limited edition cards being handed out at select games in recognition of the Warriors’ championship victory last season. 

The Warriors open up their new season Friday in Brandon with the home opener Saturday against the Prince Albert Raiders.

As their pre-season continues, the Winmar AAA Warriors are in Regina tonight to face the Pat Canadians.

The Moose Jaw Warriors split a weekend home 'n home with Swift Current, dropping an 8-2 decision Friday but bouncing back for a 4-2 win on home ice Saturday.

The WHL regular season starts this weekend with the Warriors in Brandon to play the Wheat Kings Friday and the home opener Saturday vs. Prince Albert at the Moose Jaw Events Centre.

Bizarre Bylaws: No-4423-35(1)

In the 142 years since the founding of Moose Jaw there have been plenty of opportunities for some rather interesting occurrences and the subsequent rules and regulations to address them going forward. 

The story behind the creation of one such rule, enshrined in Moose Jaw’s Bylaw-No-4423, is one that is begging to be told.

The Moose Jaw Warriors are in Swift Current tonight for the first game of their home-and-home pre-season series against the Broncos AND tonight's game marks the start of Warriors Hockey on Country 100! Voice of the Warriors James Gallo will deliver all the exciting play-by-play action!

Both teams will face off again at the Moose Jaw Events Centre tomorrow night. 

The Winmar AAA Warriors are headed to Wilcox on Sunday to battle Team Sask - game time at noon. 

Police say "no attempted abduction took place" yesterday

After police received a report of a suspicious vehicle and person who approached a minor in downtown Moose Jaw yesterday, they were able to review video footage and found the vehicle and occupants that were reported. 

MJPS say they have "verified no attempted abduction took place," and that the person was carrying a white envelope and cell phone. They added that they ruled out reports of a weapon.

It's a home 'n home weekend for the Moose Jaw Warriors and Swift Current Broncos. The Warriors are in Swift Current tomorrow with a return match-up Saturday at the Moose Jaw Events Centre.

Local high school football teams are preparing for the weekend. The Central Cyclones will travel to Estevan for a Saturday afternoon game versus the Elecs while the Peacock Tornadoes will host the Swift Current Colts - 1 o'clock Saturday at Gutheridge Field.
