Take 5 - SAMA, assessments and taxation

Rob Carnie - Anything else you'd like to add today?

Maryse Carmichael - Well, one thing I'd like to mention perhaps is on taxation assessments, there're a lot of questions these days about that.

We will spend a little bit more time in one of our future episodes on this. But the one important point that I want to make is, yes, Council did make the decision to go ahead for the next agreement for assessment services with SAMA.

Take 5 - The City's new Strategic Plan

Rob Carnie - It's time for Take 5 with Carnie and Carmichael! Featuring, of course, Moose Jaw city manager Maurice Carmichael.

Today we are focusing on the City of Moose Jaw and the City of Moose Jaw Strategic Plan for 2026 through 2029.

City manager Carmichael, the plan is built around five core pillars starting with Resident Centric Community, can you expand on that?

Take 5 - Downtown Moose Jaw shining for Shriners

Rob Carnie - We're getting downtown looking sharp for the Midwest Shrine Association, MSA 2025. August 20 through the 23rd there are hundreds and hundreds of Shriners and their partners and their families from a big area of North America coming to Moose Jaw to celebrate being Shriners with a lot of public events all ready to go.

Take 5 - Construction season progress

Rob Carnie - Summer construction. Wow. The City of Moose Jaw just sent out a news release that everybody can access at Moosejaw.ca.

The city provides summer construction update on most impressive list of work that has been done and most noticeable around the city of Moose Jaw is some great work on our roads, some great patching work on manholes being repaired, crosswalks being painted. The city is looking pretty good.

Take 5 - Landfill update, City considering three locations

Rob Carnie - We continue to look for a spot for the landfill. We know our long time landfill is reaching the end of its life. We got to get out of there and we've got to find a new location and nobody seems to want the landfill in their neighborhood, which is, I suppose, understandable.

But something's going to happen soon. Can you expand on that?
