Rob Carnie: Let's switch it up. The Thatcher Drive East paving project! They're really getting it done. 

Maryse Carmichael: They are getting it done, and I have to tell you, on Sunday I was driving on Thatcher, and I took a picture and sent it to the Director of Operations.  

I'm like “Wow, I am impressed.”, 35° and the crews were out there on a Sunday afternoon paving.  

Take 5 - No reentry at the Moose Jaw Events Centre

Rob Carnie: Let's talk about this. This is something new. It's a no reentry policy at the Moose Jaw Events Centre for Moose Jaw Warriors games. Tell us how this came about. 

Maryse Carmichael: Yes, the season is starting really, really soon. I was just at the Event Centre yesterday for a hockey practice. So, we're back in the in the new season, there's a few changes at the Event Center.

Sports Round-Up: Tuesday, September 10

The Moose Jaw Warriors roster is down to 26 players after several reassignments, including 2024 top pick Cohen Williams.

The team next plays on Friday night in Swift Current against the Broncos. 

Saskatoon's Rylan Wiens is Sask Sport’s Athlete of the Month for August. Wiens brought home a bronze medal from the 2024 Paris Olympic Games for men’s 10-meter synchronized diving, along with partner Nathan Zsombor-Murray. 

Register now for the Moose Jaw Minor Volleyball League

Registration for the Moose Jaw Minor Volleyball League powered by Golden Ticket Sports is now open. You can register on their website.  

This year is the first year for this league which is open to athletes from all school divisions.  It will give athletes the ability to play volleyball in a Moose Jaw-based league this Fall. 

Teams will practice on either Tuesday or Thursday nights led by GTVC Master Coaches with the help of parent/family members as per team coaches. 

Sports Round-Up: Monday, September 9

The defending WHL champion Moose Jaw Warriors have started the pre-season with two losses.
The Regina Pats took both exhibition games on the weekend by scores of 7-4 and 4-2.

The Warriors will play a pair of preseason games against the Broncos this weekend, heading to Swift Current on Friday, before hitting the ice at the Moose Jaw Events Centre on Saturday night. 

Sports Round-Up: Friday, September 6

The Moose Jaw Warriors hit the ice in a pair of pre-season games against the Regina Pats starting tonight in Estevan and tomorrow they both travel to the Southland Co-op Centre in Assiniboia. That game is officially sold out! Puck drop both nights is 7 p.m.

High school football gets underway this weekend for the 5A - South Rural League. The Swift Current Colts are in Yorkton to take on the Raiders tonight. Tomorrow, Moose Jaw's Central Cyclones and Peacock Tornadoes go head-to=head at Gutheridge Field. Game time 1 o'clock.

Sports Round-Up: Thursday, September 5

The Moose Jaw and District Sports Hall of Fame will introduce a number of this year's inductees this morning at the Moose Jaw Events Centre!

The Hall will welcome Ken Bradley in the athlete and builder categories along with athletes Troy Gottselig and Brian Montague with Murray Swayze and the late Wally Boshuck in the builder category.

The induction dinner will be held Saturday, September 28th. We'll have more details later today.

Generational farmers a dying breed as corporate agriculture continues to grow

Kyle Schachtel is the first winner of Discover Moose Jaw’s Farmer Appreciation Harvest Edition contest, and shared with Country100’s Courtney Fielder a bit of the story behind his family’s multi-generation farm operation. 

Schachtel hopes to pass the land and its care down to his own son one day, but he said farms like his are becoming rarer.
