The Discovery Nature Sanctuary (DNS), a hidden oasis tucked in the northeast corner of Winkler, provides a safe haven for animals and plants.
People who come to enjoy the natural beauty of this hidden urban landscape will now find a series of ten interpretive panels planted along the trails.

Assessment of rain damage at Eden Mental Health Centre is ongoing
After torrential rainfall on August 26th forced the evacuation of residents and staff from Eden Mental Health Centre in Winkler, team members and government health officials responded by setting up temporary sites in Salem Home and one of the Centre's homes.
CEO Brad Unger says at this point, they are focusing on safe patient care in those sites.
Work underway on new Morden cemetery
Construction has started on a new cemetery for the City of Morden.
In the spring of 2019, the City purchased approximately 54 acres of land on the south side of Lake Minnewasta with the intention to use some of that area for a new cemetery.
Director of Parks and Urban Forestry, Shawn Dias, explained how the land will be divided.
La Riviere Manitoba CPR Station Project Receives $25,000 Grant
A 124 year-old CPR station resting in Manitou will soon be sitting on a new foundation, funded by $25,000 from the province's Heritage Resources Conservation Grant.
Al Thorleifson, a local heritage advocate, says not only will the money pay for a new foundation for the former La Riviere rail station, it will also cover the cost of structural repairs and a new platform, and point future generations to the value of the area's history.
Plum Coulee Community Foundation and Plum Fest Team Up to Celebrate 20 Years
The Plum Coulee Community Foundation (PCCF) is planning to mark its twentieth anniversary in conjunction with the 2022 Plum Fest, an annual community celebration that's also entering its 20th season.
The announcement was made at the foundation's annual general meeting held on May 26th.
Outgoing treasurer Moira Porte says one of the main anniversary projects involves Plum Coulee Youth in Philanthropy and a guitar named Voyageur that embodies countless stories of this diverse country.
