Funeral For: Henry Poetker 
Funeral Date: August 15, 2024 
Henry Poetker, 85, of New Bothwell passed away Wednesday, August 7 at Bethesda Regional Health Centre. He is survived by his wife Helen, 5 daughters, 3 sons and their families. He was predeceased by 1 grandson and 1 son-in-law. 
The funeral service for Henry Poetker will be held Thursday, August 15th at 2pm at Bothwell Christian Fellowship Church with burial at Randolph Heritage Cemetery.

ZERR

Michael Stephen Zerr aged 60 years Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, passed away on Sunday, August 4th, 2024, after complications with multiple myeloma.  Michael was born November 5th, 1963, in Portage La Prairie, Manitoba.  He was the second youngest of seven children. 

FISHER

Ronald Allen Raymond Fisher, born July 3rd, 1967, passed away peacefully on the evening of Tuesday, Aug 6th, 2024, on his way to follow his passion.  Ron was one of a kind, adventurous but most of all, selfless.

KEMPEL

It is with profound sadness that we announce that Otto Kempel has passed away.  Otto left the world peacefully in his home on Sunday, August 4th, 2024, with his family by his side. 

Otto was born on April 10th, 1937, to Isabelle and Otto Sr. in Moose Jaw, SK.  He grew up on south hill, attending King Edward School.  Otto’s love for sport began at a young age with pick up hockey, basketball, and baseball.  Those were the days when kids would play outside for hours, and Otto spoke of these times often with fond memories. 

The Funeral Service for the late Joe Staraj of Shaunavon will be held on Tuesday, August 13th at 2:00 p.m. from Christ the King R.C. Church in Shaunavon with Reverend Father Ron Andree officiating. Interment for the late Joe Staraj will take place at St. Mary’s R.C. Cemetery at Shaunavon. Binkley’s Funeral Service of Shaunavon is in charge of the arrangements. Prayer Services will be held from Christ the King R. C. Church on Monday, August 12th at 7:00 p.m.

Valerie Umphrey Obituary

1958 ~ 2024 (age 65)

Valerie Anne (Bosch) Umphrey passed away in Saskatoon, SK on August 3, 2024, at the age of 64 years. Valerie was the beloved wife of the late Lyndsay Umphrey, godmother of Elaura Guy, daughter of Lillian Bosch and the late Joseph Bosch, sister of Kenneth (Diana) Bosch, Aileen Halter, Greg (Svetlana) Bosch, Paulette (Wayne) Samson, the late Sheldon Bosch, and Ed (Lana) Bosch.

Joan O. McDavid (Giles)

1933 - 2024

On Saturday, July 20, 2024 with her loving family at her side, Joan left us at the age of 91 years.

In keeping with Joan’s wishes, a private family memorial gathering will take place.

Flowers are gratefully declined; those wishing to honor her are asked to support Creighton Lodge, 1028 Hillcrest Dr, Estevan, SK S4A 1Y7 or the Estevan Regional Nursing Home Auxiliary, 1921 Wellock Rd., Estevan, SK S4A 2B5 who cared so wonderfully for Joan in the last years of her life.

Mr. Gary Coombs passed away at the Cypress Regional Hospital, Swift Current, SK on Thursday, July 25, 2024.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, August 15, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Full Gospel Church.

Donations in Gary’s name can be made to Canadian Mental Health.

SMALLWOOD

8 June 1932 – 30 July 2024

Edward John Smallwood was born in Edmonton, AB and moved to Moose Jaw, SK in 1970.  He was posted with 15 Wing Moose Jaw as an instrumentation electrician tech until he retired in 1978.  During retirement, John worked as a security guard at Kalium and he also drove taxi.  John loved gardening and especially feeding and watching the birds.  John will be missed by everyone who knew him especially his daughter, Diane and son-in-law, Lloyd.
