Irvin “Irv” Joseph Wegleitner

Irvin Wegleitner was born on November 1, 1948 at Ste. Rose du lac, MB, and was called by his Savior to his heavenly home on Monday, March 20, 2023 at Portage la Prairie, MB at the age of 74 years. Irv was the second of four children born to Herman Frank and Rose Clementine (nee Lueke) Wegleitner.

Jennifer Baker

It is with profound sadness that we share the news that Jennifer Baker has died. She is loved and forever remembered by her daughters Amelia and Kayleigh, her husband Rob Rintoul, parents Jeannie and Lloyd Baker, siblings Julie, Jocelyn, and Les, in-laws Randy (Bonnie) Rintoul, Jacki Rintoul, Tammy Davey and Bea Mozden, as well as friends, colleagues, coworkers and other family.

After a battle with COVID meningoencephalitis, and with his wife and daughter by his side, Albert passed away peacefully on March 14, 2023, at the age of 63.

Peacefully at the Portage District General Hospital, Arling “Arly” Dobson passed away on Sunday, March 5, 2023 at the age of 73 years.

Heather Joe-Anne Touchette

Heather was born and raised in the quiet community of Elm Creek, to parents Alice and Lawrence Nowakiewicz (Novak). She had two siblings, April and Mitchell.

Isabel Jean Spiller (nee McCallum)

With broken hearts we regret to announce the passing of our beloved Mom, Grandma, Great Grandma and Aunt, Isabel “Jean” Spiller passed away at the Portage District General Hospital on February 22, 2023 at the age of 81 years.

Jean was predeceased by her husband Cam, parents Andy and Peggy McCallum (nee Blake), daughter-in-law Marcia Spiller, sister and brother-in-law Grace and Gert Simpson, nephew Steve Byczynski, great niece Danielle Nelson and all of Cam’s immediate family. 

Victoria Anna Fingas

Peacefully on February 17, 2023, Victoria “Vicki” Fingas passed away at the Portage District General Hospital at the age of 91 years.

Victoria is survived by her husband Wilmer; son Cameron and wife Diane, son Kim and wife Kimberley, and daughter Michelle and husband Dwight, as well as her grandchildren Jarett (Jacqueline), Dana (Jordy), Tracey (Blaine), Kelley (Brook), Taylor (Joelle) and her great grandchildren Lane, Quinn and Ellie.

After a hard fought battle with cancer, it is with great sadness we announce the recent passing of wife, mother, daughter, granddaughter, sister (in-law), aunt, cousin, and dear friend, Shelley Anne Lovett on February 11, 2023.

Robert Turko

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Robert “Bob” Turko at the Portage District General Hospital with family by his side.  Bob passed on February 11, 2023, at the age of 83 years. 

Bob is survived by his loving wife of 56 years Fern; daughter Nicole and son Darcy (Nici); grandchildren Ethan (Kiandra) and Kylee; sister Janet and nephew Jeffrey (Barb); in-laws Thelma, Betty, Arnold (Val), Ivor, Garth (Tracey), Kelly, Sandra and Carol; along with many special nieces and nephews. 

Garda Sylvia Sinclair Moran

Garda passed peacefully the morning of February 7, 2023. Her family had gathered to be with her as she began her journey to her ancestors.

Her family invites you to a viewing and reception that will take place at McKenzies Funeral Chapel, 56 Royal Rd. S., Portage la Prairie, MB on Sunday, February 12, 2023 from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm.

She will complete her journey where it started with a memorial service and interment later this spring in the Fisher River Cree Nation.
