Weatherlogics predicting a wetter spring and summer.

We've seen a real mix of weather on the Prairies this week, from rain in Manitoba and Saskatchewan to snow in Alberta.

Farmers all across the prairies have been really hoping to see wetter weather this spring to help alleviate the drought conditions that we've seen in many areas over the last few years.

The moisture we've been seeing this week is expected to continue sporadically over the next few days.

Bringing generations together to celebrate Seniors' Week

In celebration of Seniors' Week, the County of Grande Prairie Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) will partner with local schools in June to host two intergenerational luncheon events aimed at fostering connections between seniors and younger generations. 

County seniors are invited to join the County of Grande Prairie at the following locations: 
 

·Monday, June 3, starting at 11:30 a.m. at Hythe Regional School gymnasium. 

·Tuesday, June 4, starting at 11:30 a.m. at Clairmont Community School gymnasium.

'You are my son': Australian Bishop forgives attacker after church stabbing

An Australian Bishop who was attacked and stabbed during a live-streamed church service returned to the pulpit this past weekend. 

Preaching with an eye patch, Bishop Mar Mari Emmanuel spoke about the event and forgave the assailant.

"In the name of Jesus, I love you. I forgive you and I will always pray for you," said Bishop Emmanuel during the sermon. "My dear, you are my son...and will always be my son."

He went on to say that he wishes nothing but the best for his attacker. 

Trans Mountain pipeline expansion gets green light to open for May 1

The long-awaited Trans Mountain pipeline expansion is complete and the Canada Energy Regulator has given the go-ahead for the project to open.

The regulator said Tuesday it has approved the last remaining "leave to open" applications submitted by Trans Mountain Corp., the Crown corporation behind the project. Approval of these applications was required before the expanded pipeline could begin shipping oil. 

Also on Tuesday, Trans Mountain confirmed that Wednesday, May 1 will mark the commercial start date for the expansion. 

Montreal police have been asked by McGill to dismantle pro-Palestinian encampment

Officials at McGill University are awaiting word from Montreal police, following a request to help clear a pro-Palestinian encampment on the school grounds.

The call for assistance comes after efforts to persuade the protesters to end what the school has called an illegal action failed.

The demonstrators say they have no intention of dismantling their tents until McGill, as well as nearby Concordia University, divests from all companies that are "profiting from genocide."

'I’m all in and bought for Jesus': Former Satanist finds God through prison ministry

A ministry called God Behind Bars is seeing many miracles come out of prisons, including a former Satanist who is now on fire for the Lord. 

"I am in prison for a very long time," says Daniel in a video interview on Instagram. "God has delivered me from gang-banging, from being on drugs, and being in a satanic cult that I’ve never seen anybody get out of."

Being involved in a Satanic cult didn't only affect Daniel's life, but also his family's.

Statistics Canada to conduct Census Test


According to Statistics Canada, the 2024 Census Test will begin the following week.

The procedure involves testing the revised census questions and collection methods two years before the next census.

The Census of Population and the Census of Agriculture are scheduled to start collecting data on May 6, 2024, and end in late June. All information gathered will be treated with the utmost confidentiality and will not be shared with third parties or kept for later use.
