McGill University calls growing pro-Palestinian encampment on campus illegal

McGill University says the camp set up by pro-Palestinian student activists on the institution's grounds in Montreal violates both school policies and the law.

More than two dozen tents had been pitched at the school's downtown campus as of Sunday afternoon, with a steady stream of visitors stopping by to drop off donations and supplies.

McGill said Monday morning that the number of people who have set up tents on campus has tripled since Saturday, and many of them, if not the majority, are not members of the school community.

Charges pending against Valleyview youth

On April 25, 2024, Valleyview RCMP received a report that a youth had surreptitiously taken an inappropriate video of another nude youth at  a Valleyview recreation center bathroom.

The video was then sent to other individuals using a social media platform. RCMP have identified both the victim and accused and charges are pending against a youth.

While RCMP continue their investigation, we remind everyone that the transmission and possession of images of nude persons under the age of 18 is criminal offence.

Fairview RCMP conclude operation following heavy overnight presence

Fairview RCMP have announced the conclusion of the police operation at 106 Avenue and 108 Street in Fairview, with officers having departed from the residence.

Initially, there was a heavy police presence in the area since 8:30 last night.

While the situation remained contained to a specific residence, residents were urged to steer clear of the vicinity by the RCMP.

God turned it around: Jennifer Hudson reminds people to never give up on their dreams

It was 20 years ago that Jennifer Hudson was eliminated from American Idol.

Although it was a tough day for Hudson, it was the start of something she could never have expected. 

"God turned it around for my good! From Idol to EGOT baby!!! 20 years later, and now back on TV with my own show," said Hudson in a recent post on Instagram. 

An EGOT is a person who has won an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony during their career, something that Hudson has managed to do over the past two decades.

Big Daddy Weave remembers touring family member who died tragically last weekend

A member of Big Daddy Weave's touring family has died. 

On Thursday, Mike Weaver's wife, Kandice, announced that Micah Elfrink, who helped their family while on tour, died in a tragic car accident last Saturday.

"Micah was one of those people that made everything better just by being there," said Kandice in a post on social media. "She had a quiet strength about her and carried the peace of the Lord with her wherever she went. She was a servant in the truest sense of the word….always doing anything and everything that was needed with a smile on her face."
