It's been almost a year since former Victoria's Secret model, Nicole Weider, was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer. 

Weider, who gave up her modelling career to follow Jesus, received the devastating news on Nov. 19, 2023.

Unspecified number of Liberal MPs set to confront Trudeau, ask him to step down

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will face down his own caucus members in a hotly anticipated meeting this morning, as several of them plan to try to convince him to step aside.

Rumours have circulated for weeks about an undisclosed number of Liberal MPs who have signed on to the effort to oust the prime minister in the hopes of improving the party's chances in the next election. 

That promises to make the regular weekly caucus meeting on Parliament Hill extra tense, as Trudeau has showed no signs of stepping down from the top job.

Ottawa marked the 10th anniversary of the terrorist attack on Parliament Hill Tuesday, but for the family of the reservist who was killed that day the memory is still raw.

Grande Prairie RCMP investigating found human remains

On Oct. 21, 2024, at approximately 1:40 p.m., Grande Prairie RCMP responded to a report of found human remains in an undeveloped area situated northwest of the city. Upon arrival, officers confirmed the discovery of an unidentified deceased female. 

Grande Prairie RCMP General Investigation Section, in consultation with the RCMP Major Crimes Unit, has taken carriage of the investigation. An autopsy will be completed on Oct. 23, 2024, at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Edmonton.  

Current water service disruption in Teepee Creek

The County of Grande Prairie wishes to advise residents of Teepee Creek that a critical water leak repair is scheduled to begin revised date of October 22, 2024, at 3:30pm.

This repair requires a temporary shutdown of the water supply to the entire hamlet for approximately 2 hours.

Municipal Utilities staff are working to resolve the issue as soon as possible.

Hythe water service disruption

The County of Grande Prairie would like to inform residents of Hythe that a valve replacement project is currently in progress. The work is initially being carried out in the area South of 106 Street, along 104 and 101 Avenue, and north of 105 Street.

As part of this project, the first planned water outage will take place on revised date of October 23rd and is expected to last approximately six hours. Further updates for future ongoing outages will be provided as soon as they become available.

Individuals, families, churches, businesses, sports teams, and community groups are now packing shoeboxes with toys, school supplies, and hygiene items, plus personal notes and photos, to be delivered to children in need around the world.
