The National Farmers Union is stressing the important role the Canadian Grain Commission plays for farmers and the grain industry

Earlier this week, the Federal Government extended the term of Chief Commissioner Doug Chorney to April 30, 2024.

Chorney's three-year term was set to expire this month.

He moved into the role of acting chief commissioner in June of 2020 and was officially appointed to the role in December of 2020.

Stewart Wells,  a member of the National Farmers Union says it's still a little unclear as to what may happen as no other names have been mentioned for the role.

Teen hosts toy drive in Oklahoma, hands out over 10,000 gifts

A young man from Oklahoma has gone above and beyond to make sure kids in his home state and beyond receive a gift this Christmas.

19-year-old Reed Miller, a college freshman, got the idea to start a toy drive in 2016 when he found out a classmate's family was struggling financially and would have to go without gifts that year.

That year, he hosted the toy drive as part of his 4-H project. It has grown significantly since then.

This year, Miller had over 200 volunteers come alongside him to help hand out gifts to more than 10,000 children.

Verse of the Day: December 20, 2023

Luke 1:76-78

And you, my child, will be called a prophet of the Most High; for you will go on before the Lord to prepare the way for him, to give his people the knowledge of salvation through the forgiveness of their sins, because of the tender mercy of our God, by which the rising sun will come to us from heaven
