Grande Prairie RCMP encourage drivers to practice headlight etiquette in poor weather conditions

As winter brings challenging driving conditions, practicing proper headlight etiquette is essential for keeping everyone safe on the roads. Snow, blowing snow, fog, and long winter nights can impair visibility, making it important for drivers to understand how to effectively use their vehicle’s headlights.

Grande Prairie RCMP provide simple headlight usage guidelines to improve safety and prevent accidents this winter:

Federal minister asks labour board to intervene in Canada Post strike

Federal Labour Minister Steven MacKinnon says he is "calling a timeout" in the Canada Post strike, and asking the Canada Industrial Relations Board to send about 55,000 employees back to work.

Mackinnon says the Crown corporation and the Canadian Union of Postal Workers are at an impasse after a nearly month-long work stoppage, and negotiations are actually going in the wrong direction.

He says if the board agrees the two sides are at an impasse, it has been asked to order union members to return to work until May.

Elevation Worship wins big at Billboard Music Awards

Elevation Woship was recently recognized at the Billboard Music Awards.

The popular worship band picked up three awards including, “Top Christian Artist,” “Top Christian Album (​​​​​Can You Imagine?)” and “Top Christian Song (“Praise”).

Since the band was formed, they have picked up a total of five BBMAs, which are determined by year-end performance metrics on the Billboard charts.

Canada can't say when it will clear 140,000 backlogged cases for First Nations kids

Canada has told the Canadian Human Rights Tribunal it can't say when it will work through a backlog of some 140,000 cases related to First Nations child services.

That has led to a prominent child welfare advocate and First Nations leaders in Manitoba warning about an escalating crisis caused by Canada's inaction.

Facing an uncertain future

Psalm 46:10

How can we face the fog of our uneasy, uncertain future? All these terrifying events are happening—political unrest, terrorist threats and attacks, a struggling economy. What more can the future hold?
 
Verse 10 of Psalm 46 answers that. We will not worry. The text says, "cease striving..." The Hebrew simply uses one term in that command, and it means, "Stop!" What a great directive! STOP! 

Grande Prairie Crime Reduction Unit arrest female for theft of mail

On Friday, November 15, 2024, at approximately 1:00 a.m., Grande Prairie RCMP Crime Reduction Unit conducted a traffic stop on 94 Avenue Willow drive. During the traffic stop, multiple identity documents and mail belonging to multiple people that weren’t the female driver and sole occupant of the vehicle were located. A subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in the additional seizure of break-in tools.
