Christian and Black music communities call for reversal of Juno Awards' decision to cut categories

The Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS) is facing backlash after announcing that four categories, including Contemporary Christian/Gospel Album of the Year, will be put on "hiatus" for the 2025 Juno Awards.

Christian and Black music communities are calling for a reversal of the decision, which also affects Reggae Recording of the Year, Children's Album of the Year, and International Album of the Year.

PM, senior security officials slated to return to foreign interference inquiry

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and members of his inner circle are slated to return to a federal inquiry into foreign interference in coming weeks.

A newly published provisional witness list for the next phase of the inquiry's public work indicates senior government bureaucrats and members of national security agencies will also testify.

Trudeau and key government officials took part in the commission's initial hearings earlier this year on allegations of foreign interference in the 2019 and 2021 federal elections.

7th annual Greenview charity clay shoot a huge success

The 2024 Greenview Charity Clay Shoot, hosted by the Municipal District of Greenview Council, was held on Thursday, September 5, 2024, at Valleyview's Shot Shell Sporting Clay Range.

This year's event attracted 126 participants and received generous support from 38 corporate partners. Nearly $53,000.00 was raised, with all proceeds going directly to support the five Food Banks serving Greenview residents.

Hinton RCMP investigate pedestrian Hit & Run

Hinton RCMP are seeking any witnesses to a hit and run that took place on Aug. 15, 2024, at approximately 6:27 am on West River Road, in Hinton.  RCMP responded to a complaint on that day of a hit and run involving a Dodge Dakota and a pedestrian who at the time was jogging on the roadside in the oncoming lane. 

After hitting the pedestrian, the suspect vehicle then sped off and was last seen driving east on Switzer Drive. The suspect vehicle is described as:

City hosting National Safe Swimming Recovery Program at the Eastlink Centre

The Eastlink Centre is the proud host facility for the National Safe Swimming Recovery Program (NSSRP), in partnership with the Government of Canada and the Canadian Parks and Recreation Association (CPRA). This initiative aims to address the national lifeguard shortage by offering subsidized certifications and employment opportunities for youth in the aquatics field.

The NSSRP is open to individuals from across the region aged 15 to 30 who are either a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or protected under the Refugee Act.

New animated Bible translation hopes to reach French Canadians
