Grande Prairie RCMP arrests male in stolen vehicle after trying to flee
On Saturday, May 3, 2025 at approximately 9:57 p.m., Grande Prairie RCMP, with assistance of the Grande Prairie Rural General Investigation Section (GIS), received a call regarding a vehicle, that was later discovered to be stolen, with a stolen license plate, parked in the area of Crystal Ridge. Upon arrival, officers saw a male leaving a residence and getting into the vehicle. The male suspect, and lone occupant, drove off, attempting to flee, but was halted by approaching officers.
Gravel road bans lifted for the City of Grande Prairie
All gravel road bans within the City of Grande Prairie are lifted as of Tuesday, May 6. Full 100 per cent axle weights are now permitted on all gravel roads.
The City thanks residents and commuters who followed the seasonal restrictions and helped protect the integrity of the gravel road network during the spring thaw.

Grande Prairie RCMP makes arrests in identity theft investigation
On April 30, 2025, Grande Prairie RCMP ran the plates of a black Kia Sportage and determined that the plates were stolen. Officers attempted a traffic stop but the vehicle fled the scene. On May 1, 2025, Grande Prairie RCMP Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) observed the Kia Sportage in a residential driveway and called in Grande Prairie Rural General Investigation Section (GIS) to assist. Once occupants had entered the vehicle, looking to leave, the vehicle was blocked by police and the two within were arrested.
Peace Regional RCMP locate stolen vehicle and make arrest
On May 4, 2025, Peace Regional RCMP were conducting proactive patrols in the area of Highway 2 when they located truck parked on the side of the road with its hood up. The vehicle did not have a matching plate to the vehicle and queries on the VIN, showed that the vehicle was in fact, stolen.
The driver of the vehicle, Leslie Lee Davis (39), a resident of High Prairie, Alta., was also found to have warrants.
Peace Regional RCMP seek public assistance in identifying suspect in theft
On May. 6, 2025, Peace Regional RCMP responded to a report, where a vehicle had been broken into, in the area of 100 Street and 96 Avenue in Peace River in the time frame of 8:00 P.M. to 10:30 P.M.

Youth Career Discovery Expo caps off Youth Week on May 8
Youth ages 14 to 30 are invited to join the City of Grande Prairie at this year’s Youth Career Discovery Expo on Thursday, May 8 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Bonnetts Energy Centre.

Strong nitrogen fertilizer demand is butting up against tight supplies in some regions of the world, says an analyst.
India is the world’s top importer of the product.
Indian urea demand surged to 38.8 million tonnes in 2024-25, an eight per cent increase over the previous year, according to Argus Media.
That was due in part to tight supplies of diammonium phosphate (DAP) fertilizer during the winter (rabi) crop season.
