Police looking for truck stolen from Webb

As a rash of recent thefts in the southwest continues, police are looking for another stolen vehicle in Webb.

Swift Current Rural RCMP say sometime between June 26 and June 27, a white 2009 GMC Sierra extended cab truck was stolen from the Rural Municipality of Webb.

Police note the stolen pick-up truck has 4X4 stickers and rust above the back fender.

RCMP continue to investigate this occurrence.

School's out! Classroom of the Month - Marengo Grade 5-7

The final Classroom of the Month of the school calendar saw Cooper and Terrence in Marengo at Westcliffe Composite School to visit Ms. Younghans grade 5-7 classroom!

A lunch hour full of Red Swan pizza and dad jokes from both the Country 104.9 team and the students. The class even gave a full school tour before finishing off the lunch period with games and checking out their new classroom shop stock!

WHL star turned college recruit; Reschny up for grabs in the NHL Draft

Macklin's Cole Reschny will be hoping to hear his name called during the first round of the 2025 NHL Entry Draft on Friday, marking the latest step on a long journey — that has been a whirlwind the last few months. 

After helping the Victoria Royals through an exciting playoff run that ended in the second round to Spokane, Reschny made the decision to forgo the rest of his WHL career and instead commit to playing college hockey for a top program in the University of North Dakota.

Parade caps grad day in Kindersley; congrats to the West Central Class of 2025!

A new wave of young adults from West Central are officially entering the real-world, following graduation ceremonies going on throughout the region this week. 

Kindersley Composite School held all of their grad proceedings on Thursday. The graduates took the stage with their family and friends seated opposite them inside the KCS gymnasium, where speeches and scholarships were delivered, followed by the diploma to end the ceremony.

Teachers typically have something fun planned for their students on the last day of school.

The team at Rossville School in Coleville takes that fun to the next level, with their annual end of year tradition of a makeshift water park provided by the Coleville Fire Department. 

Rain can’t spoil the rhubarb: Paynton’s first-ever Rhubarb Festival a sweet success


The village of Paynton, Sask., hosted its inaugural Rhubarb Festival on June 21, and despite steady rain, spirits were anything but dampened.

The day kicked off with a ribbon-cutting ceremony led by festival chair Tracy Rumold and emcee Shaunna Rhinehart. Mayor David Pelletier welcomed attendees and praised the organizing committee, which was joined by RM of Paynton Reeve Kevin Garrett and Cut Knife–Turtleford MLA James Thorsteinson.

Saskatchewan encourages producers to salvage hay from highway ditches

The Government of Saskatchewan is once again encouraging producers to take part in its ditch mowing and hay salvage program, offering farmers access to free hay while improving road safety along provincial highways.

"The hay salvage and ditch mowing program provides several benefits for Saskatchewan residents," said Highways Minister David Marit in a release. "The program offers a cost-effective way to keep vegetation along our highway system in check while supplying free hay to farmers and producers."
