Who will end the debate? Political gridlock continues in the House of Commons
Federal political parties appear to be locked in a game of chicken in an increasingly precarious Parliament over a debate that has stalled almost all business in the House of Commons.
The Conservatives have vowed the debate will continue until the Liberals hand over unredacted documents to the RCMP about a green-tech foundation that was found to have misspent government money.
The debate has now stretched into its second week.
Federal ministers were told of increasing 'volume and complexity' of foreign threats
A newly released document shows federal cabinet ministers were warned in May 2022 that hostile states were targeting Canada's strategic interests, the integrity of Canadian institutions and democratic processes, and the ability of the public to exercise Charter-protected rights and freedoms.
The document is a summary of one of four memorandums to cabinet, generally considered closely held confidences, that were provided to a federal commission of inquiry into foreign interference as part of its terms of reference.
Ottawa invests more money in organic research
The Federal government has announced over $6.8 million over five years for the Organic Science Cluster is geared to research and advancing sustainable practices.
Allison Squires is president of the Canadian Organic Growers says the organic sector is unique in that it encompasses everything from aquaculture to cranberries to horticulture and field crops.
She says this pot of money will go towards projects in all these different areas, out of the 14 projects two are based in the prairies.
Cleanfarms 2024 collections begin in Saskatchewan
Cleanfarms will be collecting unwanted agricultural pesticides and old, obsolete livestock and equine medications this week at 20 locations across northern and central Saskatchewan.
It's an opportunity for farmers and ranchers to safely dispose of unwanted or obsolete products.
A reminder for farmers that treated seed, fertilizer, needles, medicated feed and household hazardous waste will not be accepted.

Klippers take a win at home but Humbolt gets revenge
The Kindersley Klippers had a great weekend of hockey, going up against the Humboldt Broncos both Friday and Saturday.
Friday’s game was a battle, with the game going into overtime. A lot of action, high speed, and physical play made for a great display of hockey athleticism on both sides of the ice.
The game was extremely close with overtime looming. It wouldn’t last long, though, as Will Christian came from the far end. It was 3-on-0 with Brock Evans and Jaxon Herchak supporting the breakaway.

Elrose Museum hosts successful Pie Social and Silent Auction
The Elrose Museum hosted its highly anticipated annual Pie Social and Silent Auction on the evening of September 27, drawing locals for a sweet taste of community spirit. For just $5, attendees enjoyed a slice of homemade pie and a beverage while mingling with friends and neighbours. From 7 to 9 p.m., guests sampled a variety of pies, each offering a little taste of home, while bidding on unique items in the silent auction, which ended at 8:30 p.m.
