Estevan water report goes over activities for city crews, PFAS testing
Estevan has had a wetter summer with some extra rain in July, and the city's water situation has seen a good few items according to the latest water quality report from the city.
In July, the city's Water Treatment Plant processed 163,587,800 liters of water, 158,434,700 of which were sent to the municipal water system.
Learn, train, and connect at SE Sask Martial Arts Summit
The Southeast Saskatchewan Martial Arts Summit is coming to the Nicholson Centre on Aug. 23, bringing together seven local clubs to showcase martial arts in the region.
The summit runs from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. The $40 registration fee includes all presentations, food throughout the day, a catered lunch, and a small dinner buffet.

Residents and supporters of Creighton Lodge gathered for a special fundraising BBQ on Wednesday, hosted by HUB International staff, with proceeds going toward the lodge’s ongoing kitchen expansion project.
Collins Road closed for ongoing maintenance
Work on Collins Road, also known as Woodlawn Avenue South, continues today.
The road is closed to through traffic for maintenance and will remain shut until the work is complete.
Drivers are asked to avoid the area until the work has been completed.
Grain Millers officially opens Delisle flax processing facility
A U.S based company is hoping to see more flax grown in the prairies.
Grain Millers, a Minnesota based company, is expanding its operations in Western Canada.
The company operates an oat processing facility at Yorkton, Saskatchewan, and has been leasing a small flax processing facility in Saskatoon.
President and CEO Todd Stohlmeyer says with the lease wrapping up and the interest they've seen in flax they decided to build their own facility at Delisle, Saskatchewan
about 43 kilometres southwest of Saskatoon.
Largest wildfire in eastern Newfoundland has destroyed up to 100 homes: officials
Officials say the largest wildfire burning in Newfoundland and Labrador may have destroyed up to 100 homes and structures.
However, Premier John Hogan says it is still too dangerous for crews to get into the area to complete an accurate tally.
The fire burning along the northwestern shore of Conception Bay began on Aug. 3 near Kingston, N.L., and Hogan says it now measures more than eight square kilometres.
Harvest 2025 is underway across the province
With harvest underway, producers and motorists are being reminded to take extra time and make safety a priority.
That means watching out for large equipment moving on grid roads or highways as producers move from one field to another.
Farmers are also reminded to take frequent rest breaks, make sure someone knows where they are working, eat properly, and make sure to get enough sleep so they are refreshed and ready to go the next day.
Darby Mills to bring True Story rockumentary to Estevan Orpheum Theatre
Canadian rock legend Darby Mills, the “Queen of Scream” and former frontwoman of multi-platinum ‘80s band The Headpins, will bring her touring rockumentary True Story to the Orpheum Theatre in Estevan on Sept. 27.
Estevan Humane Society digs up $1,920 with final Taste of Summer Charity BBQ of 2025
The final Taste of Summer Charity BBQ in Estevan for the year ended on yet another community organization getting a helping hand. During the day, lunch was sold to support the Estevan Humane Society, with the lunch taking place just outside of Sunset Embroidery.
$1,920 was raised for the Humane Society for the lunch, and the president of the Board of Directors, Tayja Lakusta, says they had plenty of support in Estevan.
Bruins kids camp inspires the next generation
The hum of skates on ice and the laughter of young hockey players have filled Affinity Place this week as the Estevan Bruins’ 2025 Hockey School kicks off. From the smallest U7s to the competitive U13s, the camp is giving young athletes a taste of elite-level coaching, directly from the Bruins themselves.
For Nicole Lajambe, the camp has been more than just a hockey school, it’s a chance for her son to grow both on and off the ice.
