Martens Mutterings: Your junk food kryptonite
With Easter just around the corner, chocolate is all the rage. In our household, it's good to make sure we're plenty stocked up of mini eggs, cream eggs, large chocolate bunnies(OK, this is my personal list). And of course, all the goodies the Easter bunny chooses to leave all around the house too.
But of course, that got me thinking about my own personal favorite when it comes to snack/junk food. Yes yes, I know 'junk food is bad.' But seriously, if you can't enjoy something from time to time, that's just not fair. You only live once. Have a bag of chips once in a while!
Egg My Office with Stevenson Accounting!
As we went into week number 2 of Egg my Office along with our friends at McDonald's in Swift Current, the lucky winners this week was Cliff and the staff at Stevenson Accounting!
When we spoke to Cliff, he was pretty excited to be bringing some goodies to the staff at Stevenson Accounting. "We wanted to appreciate our staff, they're working hard this time of year. Gives them a little break. It's nice to win something for once!" said Cliff, while pouring coffee for a few staff members.
Moonlight Madness to mix community & connection
Friends, family, Swift Current residents, and more can head downtown later this week for the spring Moonlight Madness event.
Moonlight Madness is set for Thursday evening with some exciting in-store offers at downtown businesses, a chance to mingle, and later hours for extra shopping.
Kelsey Grose, owner of Farmer's Daughter Interiors & Design, noted that Farmer's Daughter will be set up for Moonlight Madness from around 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. or possibly longer, depending on how busy it is.
Swift Current advised of water break
A handful of Swift Current residents on Fifth Avenue North East have noticed a lack of running water on Monday evening and Tuesday morning.
The City of Swift Current is informing folks about a water main break on the 800 block of Fifth Avenue North East and Sixth Avenue North East.
Notices were left at the doors of affected residences, and crews are currently working on repairs.
No street cosures are required, as the work being completed is in the alleyway.

AGSC sets up for memory evoking exhibition
Southwest residents, local art enthusiasts, and more can soon take in a new exhibition coming to a local art gallery, highlighting memory, family relationships, and more.
The exhibit, titled boyish as a birch tree, opens later this week at the Art Gallery of Swift Current to showcase wooden carvings and drawings from Canadian artist Logan MacDonald.
Luke Maddaford, curator of exhibitions and programming at the Art Gallery of Swift Current, noted that the Toronto artist himself will be in attendance at the reception on Friday evening to speak about his work.

Ottawa police name suspect in Parliament Hill lockdown incident
Ottawa police have released the name of the person they say was behind a massive security incident on Parliament Hill over the weekend.
Police say Tyler Hall-Worthington, a 31-year-old Ottawa man, has been charged in connection with the lockdown Saturday afternoon at East Block, a building in the parliamentary precinct that mainly houses offices for senators and their staff.
An Ottawa police spokesperson told The Canadian Press that the suspect was still in custody as of Monday morning.
