Fatal rollover downtown Moose Jaw

A single vehicle rollover in downtown Moose Jaw late Thursday night has claimed the life of one person.

The collision on Main Street North between the 1100 and 1300 block occurred at approximately 11:49 p.m. 

Two other occupants of the vehicle were taken to hospital with one suffering serious but non-life-threatening injuries and the other being treated for minor injuries and has been released from hospital.

Swift Current continues to care with Community Fridge

As the southwet begins to see the first signs of winter, it's an ideal time to remind Swift Current residents about the Community Fridge and it's significance to the community.

With so many families and community members struggling, the Community Fridge has been a huge success since it's inception over a year ago.

Lindsey Wilk, co-founder of the Community Fridge, underscored that they accept non-perishable foods, boxed and canned foods, frozen meals, and personal and hygiene items.

Eston shines winning Communities in Bloom

The Saskatchewan Parks and Recreation Association (SPRA) has announced Eston as a standout in the 2024 Communities in Bloom Provincial Competition, awarding it 4 Blooms in the 501-1,000 population category. This year, Eston’s dedication to beautifying its public spaces, preserving heritage, and managing environmental initiatives earned the town special recognition for its efforts in environmental action—particularly through its water conservation initiatives at local ball diamonds.

Magnitude 5.3 quake hits northern Yukon, no damage reported

A magnitude 5.3 earthquake has struck in northern Yukon, but Natural Resources Canada says there have been no reports of damage and none would be expected.

The quake struck about 167 kilometres north of Keno, Yukon, and 519 kilometres from Whitehorse, just after noon Pacific Time at a depth of 27 kilometres.

Natural Resources Canada had initially reported a magnitude of 5.8 for the quake, and says tremors were felt in Keno, which has a population of about 20 people.

Local groups team up to restore lake's shoreline

Lac Pelletier property owners, families, and lake-goers can look forward to the restoration of the lake's shoreline and a long-term plan to maintain a healthy lake.

A handful of local groups have partnered to kick off a new project, Shoreline Restoration to Improve Freshwater Quality at Lac Pelletier. 

Kevin Steinley, executive director of the Swift Current Creek Watershed Stewards, noted that the much-needed project will involve planting native vegetation along the shoreline, which will significantly reduce erosion.

Local SaskTel TeleCare members give it back to the community

Local SaskTel workers are the force behind this years SaskTel TeleCare donations. 

Eight none profits are bennitting from the generosity of the workers who have signed on with the program, which takes a small part of their paycheques to be added to the program. In total, TeleCare gave out close to $7,500 this year. 

This year, SaskAbilities, the Swift Current SPCA, Salvation Army, and the Alzheimer's Society were among the recipients. The remaining four donations went to local school's lunch programs, such as the one at O.M. Irwin. 

RCMP provide details on last night's crash near Kinetic Park

Last night, Swift Current City RCMP responded to a single vehicle collision. 

At around 6:30 yesterday evening, officers found a vehicle that had crashed into the barriers on the South Railway Street East bridge, near the Kinetic Park Grounds. 

The driver, an adult female, was taken to hospital by EMS with non-life threatening injuries.
