George Froese, 95, of the rural Austin/Sidney area passed away Wednesday, November 6th at Gladstone.
The funeral service for George Froese will be held Tuesday, November 12th at 1pm at Austin Evangelical Fellowship Church with burial at Edrans Cemetery.
Viewing will be at the church one hour prior to the service.
Donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

Hellebuyck nets 40th shutout as Jets continue to roll over opponents ▶️
In a defensive battle against the Colorado Avalanche, Connor Hellebuyck shone brightly, notching his 40th career shutout to propel the Winnipeg Jets to a 1-0 victory on home ice Thursday night.
The shutout was a milestone for Hellebuyck and extended his impressive streak to 133:09 minutes of shutout hockey, following his previous start against Tampa Bay.
Gabe Vilardi opened the scoring for Winnipeg just 1:06 into the game. He finished off a quick odd-man rush with a pass from Mark Scheifele, marking his fifth goal in six games.

Canada’s unemployment rate holds steady at 6.5% in October, economy adds 15,000 jobs
Canada’s unemployment rate held steady at 6.5 per cent last month as hiring remained weak across the economy.
Statistics Canada’s labour force survey on Friday said employment rose by a modest 15,000 jobs in October.
Business, building and support services saw the largest gain in employment.
Meanwhile, finance, insurance, real estate, rental and leasing experienced the largest decline.
Many economists see weakness in the job market continuing in the short term, before the Bank of Canada’s interest rate cuts spark a rebound in economic growth next year.

Gabriel Vilardi scored 66 seconds into the first period and Connor Hellebuyck made 35 saves for his second straight shutout as the Winnipeg Jets defeated the Colorado Avalanche 1-0 Thursday night at Canada Life Centre. Hellebuyck has 40 career shutouts. Winnipeg is the second team in NHL history to win 13 of its first 14 games joining the 2007-08 Ottawa Senators. The Jets wrap up their four-game homestand Saturday afternoon against the Dallas Stars.
Reporter accused of being Russian spy tells MPs they fell for disinformation
A veteran Ottawa Citizen journalist who was accused by a former cabinet minister of being a Russian asset said it is the "height of irony" that a parliamentary committee studying disinformation has fallen for it.
David Pugliese told the House of Commons security committee on Thursday he found it astonishing that none of the MPs challenged the allegations when they were made last month.

RCMP warns seniors after more fraud reports come in targeting community members
This past Wednesday, October 30, saw a surge in fraud-related reports to the RCMP. We wrote of one instance last week, and more reports are coming in.
Portage and MacGregor Incidents
On that day. RCMP in Portage la Prairie received reports of two seniors being defrauded after they got phone calls from a man claiming to be a lawyer for their grandchild. The caller gave the victims their grandchild's name, told them the grandchild was in jail, and said they needed money for bail.
Housing minister announces applications open for $1B critical infrastructure program
Applications opened Thursday for a $1-billion federal program to help municipalities and Indigenous communities build critical infrastructure.
The government set aside $1 billion through the Canada Housing Infrastructure Fund in direct funding to communities to build or improve infrastructure to support drinking water, wastewater, stormwater and solid waste.
Applications are available online for municipalities and Indigenous communities. Those applicants will need to demonstrate how their proposals will support the building of more homes.
Second annual beef/forage conference sees producers gather in Portage to explore innovations
The second annual Beef and Forage Conference took place this week in Portage la Prairie, with the first having been in Brandon. Shawn Cabak, a livestock and forage specialist with Manitoba Agriculture, is one of the organizers. He says they had a great lineup of speakers from across the Prairies, as well as some American speakers.
