Average family to save $280 per year from Liberal tax cut: PBO
The average Canadian family will save $280 on their taxes next year from the Liberal government's planned income tax cut, the parliamentary budget officer said in an analysis released on Wednesday.
But some seniors and single Canadians are expected to save less, prompting criticism from Conservatives who argue the tax cut doesn't go far enough.

Almost one in four Canadians were directly affected by extreme weather events over the past year, a new poll suggests.
The Leger poll — released as Canada copes with its second-worst wildfire season on record — says 23 per cent of Canadians who responded said they were personally affected by extreme weather events like heat waves, floods, fires and tornadoes over the last 12 months.

The Manitoba Wildfire Service is updating fire and travel restrictions for many parts of the province to Level 2, effective 8 a.m. Thursday June 19. Recent rainfall and a full green-up, which means grass is green with less dead, cured grass and full leaves on trees, have helped reduce the fire risk in some parts of the province. Other areas remain at high risk, with significant fire suppression operations continuing and restrictions still in place.

Construction of the new Neepawa Health Centre continues, with heavy focus on building out the interior clinical and public spaces. Framing and drywall work is ongoing in many areas, and most of the major mechanical building equipment has been installed.
Mechanical and electrical rough in work continues, and electrical contractors have begun pulling wiring and data cables in some areas. The interior spaces will be finished in phases, with some areas 60% complete while others areas are just beginning, in order to keep trades organized and following each other.

Judge orders mental health assessment for teen accused in sword attack at Neelin High - Brandon
Judge Shauna Hewitt-Michta has ordered a mental health assessment for the 16-year-old youth who was arrested in last week's physical attack against a fellow student Brandon's Neelin High School.
The mental health assessment will be conducted to determine the accused's mental state now and at the time of the attack.
BACF's Youth in Philanthropy marks 20 Years with $36K in grants to local charities
The Brandon Area Community Foundation (BACF), in partnership with United Way Brandon & District, is proud to mark the 20th Anniversary of the Youth in Philanthropy (YIP) program by granting over $36,000 to local charities.
The presentation, made by YIP students from Elton Collegiate, École Secondaire Neelin High School, and Vincent Massey High School, took place at Elton Collegiate in Forrest, MB on April 29th.

The funeral service for Bill L. Rempel will be held Monday, June 23rd at 11am at Rosenort Church of God in Christ, Mennonite with burial at the church cemetery.
