Yellowhead RCMP make arrest after armed robbery
On August 3, 2025, at approximately 10:05 pm, Wasagaming RCMP received a report of an armed robbery at a business on Main Street in Strathclair.
Officers responded immediately and when they arrived on scene, were advised by an employee that a male entered the business, demanded money and threatened them with bear spray.
The suspect then fled on foot with cash and alcohol. The employee was not physically injured during the incident.

Dorothy LePage nee Pasoluko, 91, of Morden passed away Saturday, August 9th at Notre Dame Hospital. She is survived by 3 sons. She was predeceased by her husband Maurice.
The Mass of Resurrection for Dorothy LePage nee Pasoluko will be held Monday, August 18th at 2pm at St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, Morden with burial at Hillside Cemetery.
Viewing will be at the church one hour prior to the service.

Brandon cyclist conquers Tour 21, raising nearly $60K for Leukemia research
When Brandon cyclist, Grant Hamilton, learned he would be cycling the same couse as the infamous Tour de France just under a year ago he set a strict regime of training in motion to prepare for the most grueling ride he'd ever experience. Hamilton was one of 25 amateur cyclists to be selected for the 2025 Tour 21, the only charity ride officially affiliated with the Tour de France. The goal was to raise £1,000,000 ($1,753,949 Cdn) for Leukemia research.

Carney maintains positive approval rating despite summer cooldown: poll
Prime Minister Mark Carney's popularity may be cooling off in the summer but remains broadly positive, a new poll from Abacus Data suggests.
The Carney-led Liberal government's approval rating dipped to 50 per cent in the firm's latest polling, down two percentage points compared to mid-July and the lowest level since March.
With 48 per cent viewing Carney favourably and 19 per cent disapproving, the prime minister maintains a positive net approval. That figure is a couple percentage points lower than in Abacus's previous poll.
