The Manitoba Wildfire Service advises the majority of the province continues to be at a high and extreme fire danger level and anticipates challenging conditions as existing fires continue to grow.
Manitoba Parks advises the southern portion of Atikaki Provincial Park is closed effective 5 p.m. today, including the Bloodvein and Gammon river corridors and Aikens Lake. All park users must vacate the area. For updates on park closures, visit www.manitobaparks.com.

An Ebb and Flow First Nation store has been broken into twice between Jun 21, 2025, and July 3, 2025, where a large number of cigarettes and lottery tickets were stolen.
On June 21, 2025, at 5:11 am, Ste Rose Du Lac RCMP responded to a break and enter to a business on School Road in Ebb and Flow. On July 3, 2025, at 4:12 am, officers responded to another break and enter to the same business.

Ruth Duester, 86, of Winnipeg formerly of Poland, passed away Saturday, July 5th at Riverview Health Centre. She is survived by her husband Erwin, 5 children, 10 grandchildren, 1 sister, 2 sisters-in-law and their families. She was predeceased by 2 sisters, 1 brother and 1 brother-in-law.
The funeral service for Ruth Duester will be held Friday, July 11th at 11am at North Kildonan Mennonite Brethren Church, 1315 Gateway Road, with burial at Glen Eden Cemetery in West St. Paul.

‘Heartbreaking’: Flight school mourns students killed in mid-air collision
Two student pilots died Tuesday morning after their single-engine planes collided mid-air during practice exercises, the head of a pilot training school said.
The students, who were not identified, were practising takeoffs and landings when they appear to have tried to land at the same time on the small rural runway south of Steinbach, said Adam Penner, president of Harv's Air.
The collision left the planes wrecked in a field on private property, roughly 400 metres from the runway.

From Warm Blankets to Critical Care: BRHC Foundation campaigns for patient comfort and care
The Brandon Regional Health Centre (BRHC) Foundation is continuing their fundraising efforts to support a number of projects, the largest of these being their capital campaign for the Critical Care Centre which is still under construction.
"The Critical Care Centre and the Capital Campaign of Foundation for Care is still on track," shares Foundation Communications and Development Coordinator, Jessica Saler. "The last update we received from the hospital, the build is expected to be completed this fall with patients hopefully using that facility in early 2026!"
Killarney Shamrocks welcoming alumni from all over back for golf tournament
The Killarney Lakeside Golf Course will be the host site for the inaugural Killarney Shamrocks Alumni Golf Tournament this upcoming weekend.
One of the organizers, Tyler Shiels, couldn't be more excited for what the weekend will bring. "It's the first ever Killarney Shamrocks alumni golf event and it'll be at the Killarney Lakeside Golf Course," he explains with a big smile. "It starts at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday."
