RCMP arrest 61-year-old man for possession for the purpose of trafficking

RCMP arrested a man as part of a check to ensure he was following court-ordered release order conditions at a residence in Oxbow earlier this week.

On June 25, Carnduff RCMP conducted a check of a male’s residence, as was permitted as part of his conditions.

During the search, officers located and seized approximately 26 grams of methamphetamine, 22 pharmaceutical-style pills, about 10 grams of a white powder sent for further testing, and trafficking paraphernalia.

RCMP arrested 61-year-old Timothy Irwin at the residence, charging him with:

The Lacombe Police Service is alerting the community to a recent increase in bicycle thefts across the city. 

Officers have responded to a significant rise in reports of stolen bicycles over the past few weeks.

Tornado damage may need a close eye for farmers fields in the southeast

Tornadoes ripped through the southeast last week, with stormchasers following a few touchdowns in farmers' fields in the area. Those fields saw emergence a while ago and are now in the growing stage, meaning these plants are vulnerable to the heavy winds, hail, and more that come from a tornado.

Local Agrologist Edgar Hammermeister says that, as far as he's heard, damage to any farmyard thanks to the tornadoes has been limited.

Saskatchewan’s Crown Corporations collected $551 million in 2024-25, down from $578 million the year prior. 

This year, the province decided to release all crown corporation annual reports at once instead of gradually over the course of a week as seen in years previous. The Saskatchewan NDP has taken issue with this, saying the provincial government is trying to bury bad news.  

Frontier Days Parade marches through Swift Current

The Frontier Days Parade has once again wowed Swift Current with floats, tractors, classics and more!

Kids lined the way at Elmwood Park, darting out to pick up candy, with parents slowing their roll when needed. 

Official vehicles from MP Jeremy Patzer, MLA Everett Hindley, Swift Current mayor Al Bridal, as well as the local RCMP, Fire Department, and Ambulance service all joined in the procession.

Funnel cloud advisories issued across Central Saskatchewan as low pressure system moves in

Environment Canada issued a special weather statement Saturday morning warning residents in central Saskatchewan to be alert for funnel clouds developing throughout the afternoon and early evening.

The advisory cites a low pressure system creating favourable conditions for weak rotation beneath rapidly growing clouds and isolated thunderstorms. While these funnel clouds typically pose little threat near the ground, officials caution that some could intensify into landspout tornadoes.

Graduation day marks proud milestone for Portage adult learners

The Portage Learning and Literacy Centre celebrated its 2025 Graduation and Achievement Ceremony Thursday afternoon at Stride Place, in partnership with the Manitoba Institute of Trades and Technology (MITT) Adult Learning Centre program.
