The Prostate Cancer Centre’s MAN VAN, Canada’s first mobile men’s health clinic will be in Ponoka today, offering free health checks that could save lives.
The mobile clinic will be set up from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. across from the Ponoka Stampede Grounds at the trade show, located at 4410 54th St.
The MAN VAN provides free PSA (prostate-specific antigen) blood tests for men aged 40 to 70, helping detect signs of prostate cancer early.
SaskPower union says stress lifted as coal plants will operate past 2030
Saskatchewan coal power plants have their workers buzzing with excitement now that the province has confirmed they'll be extending the plants' lifetimes past 2030. Despite a federal initiative to close those by 2030, the provincial government stated in a letter to SaskPower employees that coal power would remain a segment of Saskatchewan's power production strategy into the future.

RCMP urge safe, sober driving this Canada Day
With Canada Day celebrations just around the corner, Alberta RCMP is reminding residents to enjoy the holiday responsibly and avoid impaired driving.
The warning comes with a sobering reminder: during last year’s Canada Day long weekend, seven people were killed in road-related incidents in RCMP jurisdictions, and 101 impaired drivers were taken off the roads.
Impaired driving remains a major issue in Alberta. According to MADD Canada, one in five drivers involved in fatal collisions have been drinking.

A total of 15 calls were made regarding mental health and wellbeing checks. Four of these incidents resulted in people being transported to the hospital for further care and assessment. Three separate incidents saw adults found to have overdosed and transported to the hospital.
Student aid applications now open for Saskatchewan post-secondary students
Saskatchewan students heading to college or university this fall can now apply for financial support through the province’s student aid program.
Applications for the 2025-26 Saskatchewan Student Aid Fund opened this week, offering access to provincial and federal grants, loans, bursaries and loan forgiveness programs. The program is designed to help eligible students cover the cost of their education and related expenses.
