A new place and new faces for the Community Cooperative Play School

The Community Cooperative Play School is settling into a new location, with some new faces joining the team. 

The non-profit operation will be based out of the Dickson Community Centre going forward and is welcoming both Kyla Patzer and Jayda Sims to their teaching faculty. 

Patzer is joining as a lead teacher and has been working in education for six years. Sims will be her teacher assistant and is excited for the work ahead. 

City releases locations for 2025 Paved Roadways Project

Move over spring, it's road repair season. The City of Moose Jaw recently announced that their new asphalt recycler is operational, and now the details for the 2025 Paved Roadways Program have been released.

This year's program aims to rehabilitate approximately four kilometres of roadways, with the work slated for the following locations:

The Big Four Roadhouse will house a wide range of acts during this year's Stampede

The lineup of musical acts performing at this year's Calgary Stampede just got a whole lot more interesting.

The Stampede announced the lineup for the Big Four Roadhouse on Tuesday morning, and it features quite an eclectic mix.

From Natasha Bedingfield to Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit to Tom Morello, formerly of Rage Against the Machine and Audioslave, and heritage pop and hip-hop acts TLC and De La Soul.

Other featured performers include: Smino, MJ Lenderman & The Wind, Lil Jon, Boys Like Girls, Yung Gravy, mike., and Toque.

Crime rates in Moose Jaw continue to trend downward

According to the Moose Jaw Police Service’s March statistical extract, crime rates continue to trend downward. 

Crimes against the person were down 16.9 per cent, from 124 year-to-date in 2024 to 103 in 2025. 

Acting Chief Rick Johns said he was a bit surprised to see a dip in crimes against the person, especially during the winter months. 

Meet the candidate: Conservative Party's Burton Bailey for Red Deer

Voters head to the polls on Monday, April 28, with advance voting taking place April 18 - 21.

Weyburn councilors continue to take in SUMA convention

Weyburn City Councillor Ryan Janke is among the hundreds of municipal officials attending the Saskatchewan Urban Municipalities Association (SUMA) convention in Saskatoon this week. The annual event, which started Sunday, brings together representatives from communities across the province for a mix of policy discussions, educational opportunities, and networking. 

Update: Semi rollover on TransCanada slows eastbound traffic

A semi rollover on Highway 1 brought traffic to a crawl just west of Jumping Pound on Tuesday (April 15) morning.

Eastbound traffic was down to a single lane while the scene was being cleared.

No injuries were reported, and nothing of note was spilled from the semi.

Alberta 511 sent out an update saying the scene had been cleared just before 12:30 p.m.

After a long winter, many people look forward to the spring weather. However, the season can bring some adverse reactions as many people experience seasonal allergies that develop at the same time every year. 

In a written response, Medical Health Officer for the Saskatchewan Health Authority, Dr. Stanley Enebeli explains these symptoms are caused by exposure to pollens from trees, grasses, or weeds. The amount and type of pollen in the air can vary depending on the season, however pollen count is typically higher in the warmer months. 

Weyburn man facing serious charges

The RCMP has charged a Weyburn-area man following an investigation into a report received in mid-March. 

He is facing charges of sexual exploitation of a person with a disability, and sexual assault. 

A court-ordered publication ban is in effect, which prohibits the release of any information that could identify the victim. As a result, the name of the accused is not being published.
