RCMP locate missing man deceased
Shortly after noon on Saturday, Spruce Plains RCMP located the pickup truck of missing man, 81-year-old George Haslan.
According to RCMP, officers found the vehicle on a rural road north west of Rapid City with Haslan inside. Local first responders provided immediate medical assistance, but he was pronounced deceased on scene.

Transit worker disarms assailant wielding makeshift torch in downtown Winnipeg
A Winnipeg man remains in custody after an early morning assault on a transit supervisor at Fort and Graham on Friday.
Police say the incident unfolded when the supervisor intervened with a passenger who had been sleeping on a bus for hours.
The man exited the bus but then fashioned a makeshift torch using hairspray and a lighter, aiming it at the supervisor.
The transit worker acted quickly, disarming the man and holding him until officers from the Downtown Foot Patrol Unit, who were nearby, arrived on scene.
Semi driver recovering 'with serious injuries' after driving off overpass causing train derailment
Winnipeg Police have provided an update on a collision that caused a significant train derailment yesterday afternoon on the East Perimeter Highway.
On November 22, 2024, at approximately 3:09 p.m., emergency crews responded to a crash at the East Perimeter Highway and Fermor Avenue. The Winnipeg Police Service says that a semi-truck left the Perimeter overpass, striking a CN train below and derailing several cars.
Ment-to-Matter Program back for second year in Sylvan Lake

Heating system suspected in high-rise carbon monoxide exposure
Residents of a high-rise building on Evergreen Place were briefly evacuated Friday morning due to elevated levels of carbon monoxide (CO).
The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) responded to a CO alarm at 8:12 a.m. Firefighters detected levels of up to 15 parts per million (ppm) in some areas of the building.
While some residents were evacuated to safety, others were instructed to shelter in place. Fire crews ventilated the building, and paramedics assessed residents, though no one required medical attention or hospitalization.
Indian man given conditional discharge for assault and sexual assault
A man from India was given a 12-month conditional discharge after pleading guilty to assault and sexual assault on Wednesday in Moose Jaw Provincial Court.
Ritik Katyal appeared in court with his lawyer Merv Nidesh. In pleading guilty, Provincial Crown Prosecutor Rob Parker withdrew a charge of breaking and entering.
Saskatchewan border crossings to see hour changes in New Year
Changes are coming to the hours of operation for several border crossings in Saskatchewan. In press releases issued earlier this week by both Canada Border Services Agency and U.S. Customs and Border Protection, it was announced on the Canadian side there would be 35 land ports of entry that have the hours change on January 6th, while the American side will have the hours adjusted at 38 ports.
Snowfall warning issued as 25cm of heavy snow set to blanket parts of Manitoba
Yet another winter storm is headed for Manitoba over the weekend, prompting Environment Canada to issue snowfall warnings for parts of southern Manitoba as up to 15 to 25 cm of snow is expected.
Snow will begin overnight Saturday in western Manitoba and move into eastern sections of the province by Sunday.
For most regions, snow accumulation will taper off Sunday night, but light snow may persist in eastern areas through Monday.

Another snowfall warning issued for Weyburn
Another snowfall warning is in effect for Weyburn and much of the province. This is a week after the first snowfall warning of the season was issued for Weyburn.
Environment Canada is calling for upwards of 25 centimetres of snow to fall in some areas. The forecast for Weyburn as of 8:30 a.m. was for the snow to start in the afternoon, and to intensify overnight with winds from the east gusting up to 50 kilometres an hour. Light snow is expected to linger into Sunday with the winds picking up again, gusting up to 50 km/h from the northwest.
