Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is taking some time to reflect after Chrystia Freeland's bombshell resignation, the natural resources minister said on Tuesday.
"The prime minister, as I understand it, a number of caucus colleagues have said that the prime minister has said that he will reflect on both the decision that minister Freeland made, but also what he's heard from members of his own caucus," Jonathan Wilkinson said.
"I think we all need to give him a little time to reflect, and I respect that fact that he's going to take some time to reflect."

Calgary Stampeders players give low grades for field, food quality in new report
The Calgary Stampeders have received low marks from a recent Canadian Football League Players' Association (CFLPA) Report Card.
"The report card presents valuable insights, provided by players, about their respective clubs to not only assist one another in making informed free agency decisions but also to contribute to raising standards for conditions across the league," says a news release from the CFLPA.
A total of 495 players from across the league were given an anonymous 58-question survey to fill out over two weeks in October of 2024.

As residents gear up for the holiday season, Chestermere RCMP is warning about thieves who try to make it a Grinch Christmas.
"From vehicle break-ins to identity theft, shoppers risk losing more than their gifts if they don't take precautions," wrote the city in a news release.

Staff with 104.5 More Country had so much fun heading to our last Classroom of the Month for 2024!
Brady Kautz and her grade 5 class at Trinity Christian Academy won a pizza party from our friends at Boston Pizza Strathmore.
Kautz explained what it was like to be the Classroom of the Month.
"It's pretty inspirational, I am super excited these kids have worked really hard. We're a very competitive classroom."
The class was given prizes from Strathmore Value Drug Mart, and Wheatland County Counseling just in time for the holidays.
Chestermere first responders to host Candy Cane Checkstop
First responders from Chestermere along with Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) will hand out some tasty treats as part of the Candy Cane Checkstop on Tuesday night.
The initiative is meant to raise awareness of the dangers of impaired driving.
According to the city, the program is a great way for residents to also meet with members of the RCMP, Chestermere Fire Services, and the Alberta Sheriffs.
The event runs at Chestermere Boulevard from 7 p.m. until 10 p.m.

Wheatland County responds to railroad crossing issues
Wheatland County announced several railroad crossing malfunctions on the morning of Tuesday (Dec. 17).
According to a post on the county's Facebook page, Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) advised them of the malfunctions, which are located at:
- Range Road 270 near Township Road 222, east of Dalemead.
- Range Road 264, near Township Road 221A, west of Carseland.
CPKC continues to work on the railroad crossings, and Wheatland County will share updates as they become available.
Heavy fog leaves Strathmore
Heavy fog in Strathmore and Wheatland County has disappeared after enveloping the area since Monday morning.
Staff with Environment and Climate Change Canada said the fog made driving tough for people throughout the day.
