Kings kick off preseason: two exhibition games against Three Hills set for Friday
Players with the Agra Risk Wheatland Kings are gearing up for the team's first exhibition games of the upcoming season starting this weekend.
The club will face off against the Three Hills Thrashers on Friday (Sept. 6) at 7:30 p.m.
Following that game, the two teams will head back to the Strathmore Family Centre Arena for a second matchup at 8 p.m.

Strathmore's Physician Sponsorship Program aims to ease town's doctor deficit
The Town of Strathmore is offering grants to doctors around the globe to help attract physicians to the community.
According to the Alberta Medical Association, upwards of 650,000 Albertans are looking for a family doctor. The organization said this makes chronic conditions difficult to manage, which leads to people resorting to emergency rooms for lab work and prescriptions.

NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh has ripped up the supply and confidence deal with the Liberals that helped keep the minority government in power.
In a social media video posted Wednesday afternoon, NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh said he notified Prime Minister Justin Trudeau of the decision.
"Canadians are fighting a battle. A battle for the future of the middle class. Justin Trudeau has proven again and again he will always cave to corporate greed," Singh said in the video directly addressing Canadians.

China's Ministry of Commerce has announced plans to launch an anti-dumping case into Canadian canola seed imports.
The action was initiated in response to a Canadian decision to impose tariffs on Chinese electric vehicles, steel and aluminum.
Canadian Canola Council of Canada ((CCC) CEO and President Chris Davison says China is an important and valued market for Canadian canola.
“We are confident that an investigation into Canada’s canola trade with China will demonstrate alignment with and reinforce our support for rules-based trade.”
Chestermere celebrates Alberta Day with first-ever Western Faire
The Chestermere Rec Centre brought in hundreds of residents on Sunday (Sept. 1) for the first-ever Alberta Day Western Faire.
The event featured western-themed carnival games, kids' archery, horse-drawn wagon rides, strolling fiddlers, and several food trucks from local establishments.
One of the event highlights was a live-action cowboy show held by the Calgary-based group Guns of the Golden West, which used real guns and blank ammunition to showcase how duels were held while teaching people how to operate a revolver.
Golden Hills School Division kicks off new school year
All classes have officially begun in Strathmore.
Although Christ the Redeemer Catholic Schools began class last Wednesday (Aug. 28), Golden Hills School Division started Tuesday Sept. 3 following the Labour Day long weekend.
Residents are being advised to keep an eye out for school zones, which display a yellow pentagon that shows two people walking on it. When school zones are in effect, speeding fines are doubled in those areas.

China has announced an anti-dumping investigation into Canadian canola imports in response to Canada planning to impose tariffs on Chinese-made electric vehicles, steel and aluminum.
In a news release Tuesday, China's Ministry of Commerce said it is launching an anti-discrimination investigation into the tariffs and an anti-dumping probe into Canadian canola imports as well as certain chemical products.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced Aug. 26 that Canada will impose a 100 per cent tariff on Chinese EVs and a 25 per cent tariff on steel and aluminum.
