The 44th annual Weyburn Communithon will be broadcast live from the Weyburn Legion beginning on Friday, October 24th at 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 25th.
As always, the ultra-local telethon will showcase a lineup of entertainment and other features to help out seven essential non-profit organizations that provide life-changing services throughout Weyburn and surrounding areas.
Glyphosate future is questionable
Glyphosate, a key product that is used by a number of farmers, could be coming to an end.

Weyburn Humane Society hoping uptick in Jeep raffle ticket sales
The Weyburn Humane Society is hoping for a boost in ticket sales for the 'Ride for Paws Support the Cause' vehicle raffle for the 2025 Jeep Compass North 4x4.
The draw was originally scheduled to be made at Weyburn Dodge on Saturday, August 23rd, but has been postponed to October 23rd now. It will also include two cash draws for $3,000 and $2,000 being made first, with those winners' names going back into the barrel for a chance to win the Jeep.

August Oil & Gas Public Offering generates over $24 million in revenue
The latest Crown oil and natural gas public offering by the Government of Saskatchewan was held on August 5th, has generated more than $24 million in revenue. This is the largest amount earned from such offerings in more than a decade.
Bids for oil and natural gas leases and exploration licences in all generated $24,312,738.26. The last time a public offering for oil and natural gas rights reached or exceeded that amount was in August of 2014, when bids generated $48.4 million.
Advance polls open in Alberta byelection with 214 candidates, historic blank ballots
Advance polls in a historic federal byelection for Alberta's Battle River-Crowfoot open today.
For the first time ever, Elections Canada says voters must fill out a blank ballot.
The agency lists a record 214 candidates running in the rural riding, with voting day on Aug. 18.
The majority are part of the Longest Ballot Committee, a protest group calling for various changes to Canada's electoral system.

Storm drain damage prompts unexpected repairs to Signal Hill Trail
Anyone who regularly enjoys Weyburn’s Tatagwa Trails System may have noticed some extra repaving done on a portion by City Garden Road on the Signal Hill Trail. Paige Tenbult, communications coordinator for the City of Weyburn, explains this was not part of the annual repaving work done on the trails system.
“Every year in our infrastructure revitalization program (IRP), we have allocated money for the Tatagwa Parkway Trail system. This year, Riverwood Trail and Signal Hill Trail will see some upgrades to their pavement.”
No charges laid after separate driving disputes turn physical
Two physical altercations last week required mediation by the Weyburn Police Service, both related to driving behaviour.
The first incident happened on Friday, when WPS members were called outside of a business on Sims Avenue. Sergeant Riley Ross says they determined there were two involved parties, drivers who had exited their vehicles to engage in an altercation.
“It was more so a road rage incident where they had stopped on Sims Avenue and exited their vehicles, and that's when the confrontation occurred.”
