More moisture needed for optimal crops in the southeast: weekly crop report
According to the Saskatchewan Ministry of Agriculture's Weekly Crop Report for July 22nd to 28th, released on Thursday, southeast producers are hoping for continued rain throughout the region to help lessen the impact of the coming heat on their crop yields, aid hayland regrowth, and improve their pasture lands currently supporting livestock.
Some scattered showers were reported, with a few significant events that produced hail throughout week.
RCMP investigate fatal collision in Ogema
Coronach RCMP is investigating a fatal collision that occurred yesterday in Ogema. At approximately 5:30 p.m., they received a report of a collision at the intersection of Bradley Street and Saskatchewan Avenue.
Officers responded alongside the local fire department and EMS. Upon investigation, it was determined that a vehicle and a child on a bike collided. The child was declared deceased at the scene. He was identified as a boy under the age of ten; his family has been notified.
The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene.
When are air quality warnings triggered?
Throughout the summer, Weyburn has seen a number of advisories from Environment and Climate Change Canada for the air quality, primarily due to wildfires burning in northern Saskatchewan, Alberta, and Manitoba. The most recent was an air quality warning issued for much of the day Thursday. This warning did raise a few eyebrows around the town, however, as it didn’t appear too bad. In fact, air quality sensors in place in the city showed the AQHI was below 6.

Moryski, John “Johnny”
John “Johnny” Moryski peacefully went to sleep on July 29, 2025, at the age of 82 years.
He lived and farmed his entire life at Tyvan, SK. John’s family remembers his deep dedication to farming and his care for the land he called his home.
John carried with him a quiet hope for a better world and the comfort of being reunited with loved ones. That hope remained with him until his final breath.
Roof replacement at WPS Headquarters was top priority for City of Weyburn
An April 2024 third-party assessment of 12 facilities owned by the City of Weyburn determined there were five buildings in need of roof replacement.
Of those, the roof of the Weyburn Police Service Headquarters was the highest priority for replacement this year.

Guest, Irene
We the family of Irene Guest, are saddened to announce her passing on July 29, 2025 in Weyburn, SK at the age of 92 years old. Her life was centered around her family, and she poured her heart into every moment spent caring for and supporting those she loved. She will be deeply missed by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Irene was predeceased by her husband, Earl Guest; her parents, Matilda Gertrude Slater and Joseph Alec Slater; brothers and sister: Melvin, Leonard, Albert, Dorothy, Norman; son, Dean Guest; grandchildren, Janis Guest and Michael Guest.
