The Saskatchewan Agricultural Hall of Fame will officially recognize six outstanding individuals who will be formally inducted into the Hall and honored for their lifetime of achievements and contributions in agriculture.

Weyburn Wildlife Federation hosting first gun and outdoor show in over 30 years
For the first time in over 30 years, the Weyburn Wildlife Federation is hosting a gun and outdoor show this weekend at the Weyburn Agricultural Society building. Running from 10 A.M. to 5 P.M. on Saturday and 10 A.M. to 3 P.M. on Sunday, there will be fun to have for all fans of the outdoors and for all ages. Troy Anderson, an organizer of the show with the Weyburn Wildlife Federation, comments on the exciting show this weekend.
Spring thaw sees water soaking in, not running off, across Saskatchewan
With snow having disappeared from much of the province, the Water Security Agency (WSA) provided an update on spring runoff and reservoir levels in Saskatchewan. With snowmelt almost over, WSA president Shawn Jaques says runoff is in the normal to slightly above normal range.
“We don't expect any significant flooding risk in the province this year. However, there's always the risk or instances where there's some localized out of channel flows where runoff is a bit higher.”
Understanding Seed Treatments and Seedling Disease
Seed treatments can play an important role against disease, helping to give the newly emerging crop a better start.
Dr. Kelly Turkington, a plant pathologist at Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada in Lacombe says seed treatments can effectively control seed-borne diseases such as Fusarium, spot blotch pathogens in cereals, and loose smut in barley.
Building construction in Saskatchewan rises to best in country in latest data
The government of Saskatchewan says it's seeing more success with building construction investment, which is being backed up by numbers from Statistics Canada. In their latest release, they showed that Saskatchewan saw a 29.9 per cent growth in February 2025 compared to February 2024 for building construction investment.
Investment in building construction is calculated based on the total spending value on building construction within the province.
The figures would put Saskatchewan in first place among all provinces for year-over-year growth.
'Weyburn Police Service did not attend': Clarification on Sandeski rally
It was the subject of attention from numerous media representatives, including outside of Weyburn.
Perceptions surrounding Fred Sandeski's end of stay at the Weyburn Special Care Home last Wednesday resulted in some backlash toward the Weyburn Police Service.
Originally, it had been reported there were armed police officers in attendance within the facility to take part in an eviction.
Shared ice, shared heart: Weyburn thanks Assiniboia at last night's home game
Last December, Crescent Point Place, home of the Weyburn Red Wings, experienced an ammonia leak that shut the rink down for the last weeks of the 2024 regular season. It was the town of Assiniboia that opened the doors of their Southland Co-op Centre to the Red Wings during this time.
Thanks to their generosity, the Red Wing were able to continue in the regular season without a hitch, bringing them to where they are now – at the top of the Viterra Division and playing in the final series of the Canterra Seeds Cup.
