Baking her way home: Yellow Grass baker builds dream kitchen within her own four walls

Yellowgrass baker Kellie Stadler has run Batter Up Bakeshop out of her home since last November, however, when her operation outgrew her kitchen, she didn’t have to leave the walls of her home to grow with it.  

From international kitchens to home on the prairies 

Stadler is a graduate of the Baking and Pastry Arts Diploma Program at SAIT Polytechnic.  Through that program she travelled the world experiencing baking practices in places it is most renown. 

Approvals on the agenda tonight for Weyburn City Council

Weyburn City Council will hold the second meeting of June tonight at 6 p.m. in Council Chambers at City Hall. 

The agenda includes a request from Engineering Director Renee Cugnet for Council to approve Justin Farr's appointment to the Weyburn Airport Board, which was passed as a motion during the board's June 6th meeting. 

Farmers will be out evaluating crops following the weekend weather

Most areas of the prairies received some rainfall over the weekend. 

Environment Canada issued a number of special weather statements warning about significant rainfall and the potential for flooding in Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Alberta.

Many areas saw torrential rain and even tornadoes that caused significant damage, along with cooler temperatures and a risk of frost in some areas in Alberta and Saskatchewan.

Camp Ignite: Big Brothers Big Sisters Weyburn bringing day camps for girls this summer

Big Brothers Big Sisters Weyburn will be offering two, week-long day camps this summer for girls ages eight to 14: Camp I.G.N.I.T.E. will inspire, grow, nourish, imagine, thrive, and empower youth through hands-on learning, positive mentorship, and a lot of fun.

In-School Mentoring Program coordinator Amanda Payne said this is the first year they'll be offering the program, which will run from July 7th to 11th as well as from August 11th to 15th from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Registration is open for up to 10 girls per camp.

Carney says Middle East 'highly volatile' after U.S. strikes Iran, calls for calm

Prime Minister Mark Carney is calling for de-escalation after the United States carried out strikes against Iranian nuclear sites early Sunday.

Carney issued a social media post saying the U.S. military action was "designed to alleviate" threats posed by Iran, but the situation in the Middle East remains "highly volatile."

He says stability in the region is a priority and is calling on parties to get back to the negotiating table to find a diplomatic solution.

Rotary Club of Weyburn to host Newcomer Picnic this Sunday

The Rotary Club of Weyburn will welcome Newcomers to Canada for a picnic at River Park on Sunday, June 22nd from 1 to 4 p.m.

The event will be a chance for those new to Canada to bring their families and friends together for food, fellowship, and fun. While the barbecue will be provided by the Rotary Club, attendees are welcome to bring their ethnic dishes to share as well.

First Nations youth say they're 'starting a movement' against major projects bills

First Nations youth leaders are warning Canadians can expect a long, tense summer of protests as governments push forward with plans to fast-track major projects — and young people will be leading the charge.

"You will see us in your cities, your city's hubs," said Ramon Kataquapit, a youth councillor with the Chiefs of Ontario and Nishnawbe Aski Nation and a member of Attawapiskat First Nation in northern Ontario.
