Wings drop two games over weekend
Despite a strong start to the Weyburn Red Wings six-game home stand, the Wings couldn't take advantage this weekend, dropping two games.
On Friday night the Wings took on the La Ronge Ice Wolves at Crescent Point Place.
Ty Mason opened the scoring with a goal for Weyburn just two minutes into the first period. La Ronge answered in the second, with a goal from Handel. Mason came back just a few minutes later with another goal before La Ronge hit their stride, landing another two goals during the second period.
It's Hockey Day in Weyburn this Saturday!
Anyone who loves hockey, and especially if they are fans of the Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Red Wings and the Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Gold Wings, is likely going to want to be down at the rink tomorrow, Saturday, December 3rd, for Hockey Day in Weyburn.
"We are having a day with the Red Wings and Gold Wings starting at 10:30 in the morning we will have a street hockey game with the players from both teams," shared Kenda Kittelson is with Hockey Weyburn..
"We invite all kids to come out and take part. Please dress, warm and bring your own stick."
Weyburn Red Wings back in the win column
The Weyburn Red Wings snapped their four-game losing streak on home ice last night, coming away with a 4-1 win over Yorkton Terriers.
The Red Wings opened the scoring roughly four minutes into the first period, with a goal by Jackson Hassman. Yorkton answered the goal just a few minutes later but Jakob Kalin closed out the period in style, scoring with just fifteen seconds left.
The Weyburn Red Wings love to give back to the community
The Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Red Wings are not only hockey players, but also civic-minded individuals who love to give back to their community.
Nick Nielson, the voice of the Weyburn Red Wings, explains more about the ways in which the team dedicates time to volunteering.
"We got guys walking dogs for the Humane Society, and then every Sunday we got guys watching over the public skates, making sure the kids are having fun and that they are staying safe and kind of putting that time in to give back to the community."
Weyburn Red Wings take centre ice at weekly public skate
The Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Redwings will be taking to the ice during free public skating every Sunday from 2:45 to 4:45 p.m. until the beginning of March 2023.
The SJHL hockey team has partnered with the City of Weyburn to be a part of the weekly skating sessions at Tom Zandee Sports Arena sponsored by the Weyburn Young Fellows.

Youngest Player in SJHL Helps Red Wings To Victory in Nipawin
To start off a double header on the road, the Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Red Wings were in Nipawin Friday night to take on the Hawks for the second time this season. While last time ended in an exciting shootout, the Red Wings were more dominant this time around and earned a 4-1 win.
Wings split home and home with Melville
Both teams battled for position in the standings with a home-and-home weekend for the Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Red Wings and the Melville Millionaires.
In Friday's game, the first score waited until 16 minutes into the game, when Ian Maier went to the penalty box. Shorthanded, Mi-Kwan Tallman worked the puck out to centre after blocking a shot, and he would burn around the outside while the defender fell down. Tallman walked in alone and scored unassisted.
Red Wings in Melville Friday
The Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Red Wings are back in action tonight in Melville when they take on the Millionaires.
The Red Wings won their last game against the Klippers 4-3.

Red Wings Snap Losing Skid With Big Comeback in Kindersley
Coming into the game on a three game losing streak, the Red Wings were faced with the 12th ranked team in the league in the Kindersley Klippers, and early on it looked like things might turn sour early. After falling behind, the Red Wings would score four straight goals for the comeback 4-3 win on the road.
