Red Wings Falter Against Hounds at Home
The Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Red Wings found themselves down early in their game Saturday night against the Notre Dame Hounds. They would put the pressure on, especially in the late stages of the game, but ultimately fell 6-2.
Two of the bright spots of the game for the Red Wings was the performance of two recent additions to the lineup. Ethan Clements, skating in his second game for the Red Wings, scored his first goal as a Wing and added an assist. Mi-Kwan Tallman, playing in his first game with the Wings, finished the night with a pair of assists.

Red Wings Start 2022 On Right Foot
The Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Red Wings started 2022 with a win Tuesday night, as they defeated the Yorkton Terriers 5-3 at Crescent Point Place.
The game came after a weekend of roster moves, which saw the Red Wings trade forwards Braden Birnie to Steinbach, Drew Kuzma to Flin Flon, Nik Sombrowski to Notre Dame, Beau Larson to Virden, and forward Troy Hamilton and defenseman Nick Dobson to Winkler. The roster moves resulted in the Red Wings having a rather young roster, with just one 20-year-old player on the ice.
Red Wings Trade Birnie, Acquire Players from Steinbach
The Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Red Wings announced another big move Monday morning. The team has traded captain Braden Birnie to the Steinbach Pistons of the MJHL.
Birnie, who was named the captain of the team earlier this season, is in his final season of junior hockey eligibility. The Weyburn native has played in 93 games with the Red Wings, compiling 50 points in that stretch.
Red Wings Make Trade
The Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Red Wings starting 2022 off with a roster move.
The team announced late Sunday they have traded 01-born forward Nik Sombrowski to the Notre Dame Hounds. The Fernie, B.C. native had 21 points in 28 games this season.
Coming back to the Red Wings are 1st, 3rd and 4th round picks in this year’s draft.
Red Wings Postpone Games
The Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Red Wings and the Estevan Bruins have announced the annual New Year's home and home series has been postponed.
The move to postpone the game scheduled for Estevan on Thursday and in Weyburn on Saturday was made after the teams stated there were players who were close contacts to positive COVID-19 cases on both teams.
No dates have been announced as of yet for when the games will be played.
It was also announced the La Ronge Ice Wolves were postponing their games scheduled for Friday and Saturday against the Flin Flon Bombers.

Red Wings Shut Out At Home
The Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Red Wings played their last game before the Christmas Break Saturday night, and it is a game they will likely want to forget. After finishing the first period trailing 1-0, a pair of shorthanded goals in the final moments of the second helped boost the Estevan Bruins to a 7-0 victory, securing the Highway 39 Cup.
The loss didn’t sit well with Red Wings head coach Cody Mapes – in particular the effort from his team at times.
Red Wings Come Up Short
The Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Red Wings were looking to bounce back from Wednesday’s loss when they took the ice at Crescent Point Place Friday night. It was the team's first game at home since November 29th. The visiting Melville Millionaires has other ideas, though, capitalizing on their opportunities to beat the Red Wings 4-1.
Red Wings Come Away Empty-Handed from Estevan
The Richardson Pioneer Weyburn Red Wings found themselves in tough Wednesday night when they travelled to Estevan to take on the Bruins. While the Wings managed to keep the game close until the third period, Estevan would rattle off three goals in a span of two minutes, giving them a 5-0 victory at Affinity Place.
